Hi friends, happy Thursday!
Welcome to Dark History. People used to be sacrificed for popcorn. Yep. The buttery goodness that you finish eating before the trailers are even over at the movies. Now you may be thinking, “how in the heck does that make any sense?” Because, honestly, that was also my initial reaction. But let me tell you, the history of popcorn is WILD. And we’re getting into all of it on today’s episode. So buckle in, babe.
I appreciate you for coming by, and I hope to be seeing you next week for even more dark history. Hope you have a great week ahead and I will be seeing you very soon xx Bailey Sarian

Do a 13 colonies episode! I heard that at the time in England, if people got in trouble with the law they were sometimes sent to the colonies to be slaves, and it was considered worse than be sentenced to death for so many reasons, including the danger dying on the boat before they even arrived.

They weren't the Aztecs, they were called the Mexica. Aztec is just a whitewashing term. Also, there were many different Native American tribes in Mexico, the Mexicas were the ones living in present day Mexico City. So they may not even be your ancestors at all. Learn your history.
@luciuelane
@luciuelane 2 жыл бұрын
@@zoilalulu3798 my ancestors are mostly from the state of Jalisco which had many individual tribes that belonged or were a part of in some way or another to the Aztec empire. Yes, I'm generalizing here with the term Aztec as it's a empire that many are familiar with in some way. I'm not a historian but I do know that there were many tribes/peoples in what we know today as Mexico just as there are in many countries across the world. I made a play on words since the topics of corn, horror, blood, and the ancient Aztec empire were part of the video. That's all.

I'm from Ohio. When I go back home to visit, I will never look at all those cornfields the same 🌽🌽🌽 Also, if anyone is interested- There's an old opera house style movie theater like Bailey mentioned, but is still operating today in Clifton (Cincinnati, Ohio) called the "Esquire theater." It opened in 1911, originally featured silent films, live theatre and an organist. Survived the great depression. Later Featured "talkies" when sound became a thing. Still has much of it's original structures, (what wasn't required to be modernized) painted in the main lobby where you walk in, not the lobby where you buy food. The ceiling designs are painted how it would have looked to patrons some time ago. It's like stepping back in time!

@@morgangonnelly5683 they were sacrificed to occupy a similar place to vikings in Valhalla. It was though they were going help the gods in a great battle. And vikings were not afraid to die to impress Odin. Why would Mayan and Aztec warriors would be any different? Same thing, different continent. All ancient warriors saw giving their lives for their gods/land as a great honor. Is not weird at all, it was kind of the norm in those times in most civilizations.
