Why does everybody expect others to break ot in screams and cries when they get an info about a close person being deceased. Some people take the new with such a shock that they are in denial and it takes them some time to process it to break don in grief, others want to keep it together to help in investigation or in front of others and they break down when nobody sees them, yet others go numb and become almost catatonic... There are so many different ways people deal with the grief of a loss, so I don't know why is everyone expected to go theatrical in the cliche of bawling and screaming and sobbing....

I try to process emergency matters logically and think of what the best way to fix things or clear things up may be. Usually I start crying when I am by myself. It is just better for all involved if I keep my emotional expressions to myself. As a result I have schooled myself in keeping myself emotionally cool when in the midst of trouble.

Because that is how it is in the movies. Pop culture influences way too much of how we think. It is the same when someone gets shot: when someone is shot they don't dramatically fly backwards they usually just drop straight down.

Totally agree, myself is a quiet guy who believes in destiny and I never showed my emotions infront of people, even when I was told that my mother had died I kept silent for a few sec without any emotions, but when I went to sleep at night I started crying with no sound.

I know of a female falling down the stairs, suffering brain injury and dying in the hospital. Her then boyfriend said he reached to grab her. I believe he pushed her. She died a week or so later. He had her cremated and has possession of her ashes. Control to the end.....

@Lu G. how do you shop for Christmas when you're not even in the Christmas spirit? I still have to mourn the loss of Halloween and then I can move on to Christmas. Halloween is my #1 favorite and Christmas is #2. I try to get into Christmas a little early because for me this is the best time of the year (sept-Dec) and there really isn't enough time to enjoy if you start after Thanksgiving. But i usually just give gift cards or money. That way i know they will get exactly what they want. I got too many presents in my life that i didn't like, want, or need.

Different strokes for different folks. When we were kids, my mum started buying in January (usually lay-by back when that was normal). I think it was partly to do with budget and making sure we had presents in case other expenses came up. It's a bit old school, but it worked. I would consider waiting for December to start shopping a bit stressful. I only get last minute gifts in December.
