TLDR: This got mucher longer then I intended, so I'll TLDR it this way, the biggest thing Blood does wrong is that it does not use the maps unique mechanics for the EE, the fact the hells retriever is barely ever used is downright criminal, that should be like the staffs of Origins or the bows of DE where it's a core part of the EE, same for the magma/acidgat which I can't even remember if it was used Me and my friend have recently gone back to BO4, we specifically started with Blood and really I agree with everything here Blood is a map very close to greatness, but like you said, the Easter egg is to far detached from the gameplay of the map, the fact the blundergat, the maps core wonder weapon, isn't actually needed at all When we think of the best Easter eggs, it's always the ones that feel like they a built into the map, not ontop of it, using things in the map DE is my favorite map of all time, and it's because the bows play an integral role in the EE, and not just the bows but also the ragnorocks, the anti grav room, rocket test, death ray, all of these are core map elements you need to interact with in order to do the EE Blood has the problem where the EE feels sepreate to the rest of the map, the fact it starts off with a secret room, I dint hate the idea of a secret room, but it should be at a later part of the EE, not the very first step, a good EE in Zombies should be one where a casual player who is at most going to get the maps wonder weapon will accidently complete the intro steps Let's look at again DE and also origins, the first steps to these maps is get and upgrade the staffs/bows, in a team of 4 you will be doing this anyways during map setup, the best EEs do this, where step 1 is getting setup in the map, and then they should use core components of the map instead of adding Easter egg exclusive components Let's look at DE first, in DE after you get the bows you start the whisps step, where you first shoot the teleporter with the nom upgraded bow, interacting with a core component of the map, the teleporter, something you will use in everything playthrough of DE, then you run around the map finding the whisps, then go back in time with the teleporter, again as we see, your interacting with a core component of the map, other steps like this is when you shoot down Dempsey, you use the death ray, something in the dead center of the map and its a very unique trap, it's a core aspect of the map Origins does this to, you drop the staffs in the robots, use the G strike to break open the hole, throw in maxis, your using core aspects of the map in the EE Now to get to what Blood does wrong, the EE in blood uses its own mechanics, while things like the shield blast have some usage outside of the EE, it's obvious it's desgined for the EE, it's not a core aspect of the map, most players who are say, high rounding on Blood, would probably never even use the shield blast and this is THE thing you use in the EE, also the shields afterlife vision is ONLY used in the EE, I'm pretty sure outside if the EE there is no uses for it, the problem with all of this is it makes doing the EE of blood and playing the map feel different, your not using the same things you'd high round with to also do the EE, to go again back to DE, you use the bows for litterally step 1, and no high rounder in DE will not be using a bow, you use the teleporter multiple times, something everyone not doing the EE will also use, you use the death ray which is something people will probably use, the EE uses mechanics that are desgined for general gameplay, that's what makes the EE so good, Blood on the otherhand has its EE mechanics never be used or even thought of outside of the EE

That cutscene inconsistentsy really bothered me since it would have, even from a gameplay standpoint not just story, made sense to start where the mobsters exploration of the map ended. Grabbing that last plane part. But even like you said we could have been in a larger docs area we had to survive in until pulling a good enough box weapon to enter back into the prison. Where we know early in bo4s development they wanted zombies to never stop coming like the intro. Or even a Moon style infinite spawning zombies at the golden gate bridge where you have to choose to ride Icaris the plane back into the Mob. But unfortunately due to Bo4s cursed dev cycle what was supposed to be a cool mysterious moment in the old story was re-worked into being the start of a new story with the death of Richtophen but not really, leading eventually to A&O and the end of Primis and the rushed end of tranzit crew too.
