NoRollsBarred has an EXCELLENT series of live and online plays. If anyone’s on the fence about the game check out one of those; I can’t recommend them enough.

I purchased the game immediately after the first NRB episode of blood on the clocktower. The moderator Ben Burns is masterful.

@@trevorsmith8014 I was the exact opposite. I watched it and immediately thought that it's a fun one to watch, but without someone super knowledgeable like Ben to guide the game, I would worry it would flop.

I have a game group that consistently plays this with 7-12 people. We LOVE this game! Every player has something special about them. Even if you die you still get a vote. A zillion roles with multiple scenarios. Sooo much replayability. BUT you really need someone who knows how to run the game. Someone who knows what rolls work well together. How to make interesting decisions etc.

I'm not a huge fan of social deduction games, and after a couple of plays I decided this isn't a game for me. That said, if you like social deduction and want those moments where puzzle pieces fall into place, Blood on the Clocktower is a game to check out. The game is very well done, and fans of the genre love it.

Jason! I remember some of those Everything Is Awesome reviews used to be rough. This review was PHENOMENAL!!! Great to see you on the channel!

I really like how it gives everyone a role, splitting the overpoweredness of the Seer across the good side, so you're not stuck with the high skill floor boring role most of the time like Werewolf. However, the player aids could use some iconography or brief mnemonic, since most player powers follow a pattern

Good to see Jason again. Played a print n play version of this with a big group a few months ago. Was very wary as I'd not really played social deduction before and I'm autistic so was a tad worried about the social aspect. Was a great time and a fantastic experience. Jason was right to point out the amazing puzzle aspect. Definitely not one for every group or every situation but with a bunch of folk who are up for a big social game it is really quite something.

I have no problem with his score. My wife and I don’t like social deduction, but fell in love with this one at Origins, so we’re probably similar scores. I’m just disappointed we got ONE viewpoint on a game with this much buzz. I want to hear the spectrum of thoughts or universality of their opinions.

Shut Up and Sit Down introduced me to the game with their review and then No Rolls Barred got me to purchase the physical games. NRB’s playthrough are absolutely brilliant and I highly recommend people watching those before buying the game. I love the physical game, such beautiful pieces and books and the game itself is wildly fun!

$145 is a STEAL. I made my own copy from the PNP resources, and I've spent roughly that amount on wooden tokens, felt (actually fleece), printing, laminating some of the prints, driving back and forth, etc. (Part of that was a metal music stand, $40.) I've spent 20 plus hours, and have only completed the first script tokens (Trouble Brewing). Also, the almanacs online are outdated. (I assume you get those with the game.) If you add shipping, this is still well worth the price. Update: I ordered it from a game store for even less! This game is so good, if you like solving puzzles and socializing / bluffing. I didn't care too much for social deduction before. Now that you can use logic (with a little bit of randomness), and everyone has a role to play, even after death, I'm all in.

I brought out Blood on the Clocktower at a local gaming group, only for the person running the group to express his dislike of the game, describing it as "unsocial" and "intrusive". I have never quit a gaming group so fast in all my life.
@Bodyknock2 жыл бұрын
I've heard some complaints about Blood on the Clocktower (mainly its price or its game length or learning curve) but "unsocial" is kind of nonsensical. It's literally a social deduction game, the whole game is all the players talking to each other.
@dr.masquesretroelixir53602 жыл бұрын
@@Bodyknock This looked interesting, but I agree on price. I feel $200 for a social deduction game is out of my range.
@SamJohnson22 жыл бұрын
I find that most complaints about the length come from online plays, especially from Storytellers are overly lax with how much time they give players time to talk and nominate. It will vary by script and a player count, but this game runs no longer than a typical Werewolf game. When running the game at conventions, TPI has 60 minutes to gather up to 9 players, teach the rules, run the game, do a post-game recap of what went down, then clean up and prepare for the next group of players. 60 to 75 minutes is roughly the average playtime across all scripts and player counts, with 30 minutes to 120 minutes being the fringes for most games that make it to a "final" day.

Some just don't like social deduction games and they make some players uncomfortable. Though this person may have just been a jerk about it.

Game is $145 before shipping just to be clear. In today’s market for epic games, that is right where it should be. And you are getting an A+ game and A+ components! Or just play online for free or minimal amount of $.

Unless of course you want a physically superior product, or otherwise just don't want a DIY project. The production copy is certainly better than even the official prototypes, let alone print and play copies.

If you're in europe and order on their website, it's 174 euro + 17 for shipping, so I wouldn't say 200 is a far stretch. Also I would assume in CAD it's 200ish.
