Thank you. I have chronic tinnitus and it can be so very annoying. I'm 41 and I've always seemed to have it. It gets really bad when I lay down for bed or a nap or with earplugs it's completely unbearable. I also have post concussion syndrome. Idk if they're related or not but, I just kept being told it's normal for some people. I should probably get it checked.

A few years ago an ENT physician's assistant swabbed my ears to test for fungal or bacterial infection. The process felt irritating but my ears were already inflamed so I didn't think more about it. About 20 mins later I was waiting for a coffee at a shop and felt something warm on my neck. BLOOD WAS DRIPPING from my ear! I returned to the ENT and a different staff member cauterized the wound. Talk about distressing!
@Cadhlasta12 ай бұрын
Oh my...so the apprentice messed up? Or was it just that irritated that it kinda opened a sore? I hope they talked to the apprentice about it. Maybe it would've been better to bring that apprentice back in and show them what they did wrong while cauterization it. It's a learning experience and hopefully take it with them as they continue on their career path. I'm glad that other employee managed it, though. Hopefully they didn't charge you extra for having to correct the mistake.

Hi Connor, it's good to see you and another of your videos. I find it interesting how people panic. I'm not a panicker so I don't really get it. Last year I had three procedures for cancer checks. People said you must be so worried. I said no, there's no point in worrying especially as it could be for no reason whatsoever. When I received the all-clear they said you must be so relieved. I said no because I wasn't worried but I am grateful.

This was a nice change. While we got our normal biology lesson (which I love), we saw the importance of reducing anxiety in the patient. You went above and beyond. My solution would be to ban the sale of cotton buds to everyone except medical facilities. But that would work as well as Prohibition did in the US. People will find a way to get in deep - if my ex didn’t have access to a Q-Tip, he’d open up a paper clip or use a pen cap. 🤦🏻♀️

@@22Purplemist Yes! My Q-tips are with my cleaning supplies. I was using them just the other day to clean the window sill between the glass and the screen. I also have old toothbrushes, too. Hi Connor!! Cait here, watching from Canada 🇨🇦 Thank you for such a thorough explanation & walkthrough. Lol I think ‘bleb’ matches the hematoma perfectly! Was the bleb part of why olive oil or sodium bicarb wasn’t used for this patient ? or was there another reason not to use it in this case? my understanding was that olive oil helps with super dry wax like this patient’s, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts! Can't blame him. That looks horribly itchy. I have dry ears and use olive oil religiously, but sometimes a tickly itch will wake me up in the middle of the night and I can't help myself but ram a cotton bud in there and mechanically milk my ear as it's called lol. I know it's bad, but it is impossible to ignore. I was quite disappointed by my ENT because he didn't have a proper look inside, just a quick glance from the outside, said yup your skin looks dry and prescribed me cortisone and olive oil for the itch. I had not used cotton buds for months but it did not help at all. Now I'm back using them I have Sebhoritic Dermatitis on my scalp and suspect in my ear canal too. Ketoconazole shampoo works wonders for my scalp. My question is what antifungal is commonly used for ears and can I buy it without a prescription? Thanks! Love your videos.

I would describe that as a blood blister. To be overly pedantic, there's no sac _per se_ - it's a simple collection of fluid under the surface of the skin, as you no doubt already know. 😝 In any case, I'm glad your patient's symptoms were easily resolved and that he hadn't done himself any lasting harm. Not about this particular video but I’m having trouble understanding the process of skin formation in the ear. You and your esteemed colleagues speak often of ear canal skin as originating on the eardrums and migrating out along the ear canal towards the outside. So are you implying that EVERY skin cell in the entire ear canal is formed on the ear drum? I understand that the skin covering the outer cartilaginous portion of the canal is covered in regular multilayered skin. Wouldn’t that skin be producing new skin cells? Also, when I see the vast accumulation of dead skin that can accumulate in an ear, I just can’t imagine that that mass of material all originates on the surface of the ear drum. Perhaps I am missing the point and the new skin cells don’t all arise on the eardrum but the process is 0:24 that skin shedding in the ear all MIGRATES in the direction of from the eardrum towards the outside. Any help you can offer to educate me on this would be much appreciated.
