@@jordanadams9804 the hub area is presumably one of the first developed areas, so you can asume that devs would walk around there via client to test triggers, like event triggers or voiceline triggers. "If you walk to x than y plays". So you let a voiceline play to test if that trigger works

The blood dreg looking like sperm really remind me of something I read regarding Victorian views on blood and sperm. During the time period, blood and sperm were seen as the same thing, givers of life and identity. Activities such as sex were seen as transfer of blood, as just like blood transfusion, bodily fluids are given during sex. The story Dracula was supposedly very much inspired by this Victorian view on blood and sex, with blood symbolizing semen, draining of blood symbolizing sexual intercourse, and the spread of vampirism symbolizing syphilis

Thus, the gesture may also demonstrate that one is aware that they are in a 'lucid' state (aware of being in a dream), as opposed to being either a creation of (or a prisoner in) the dream. So revealed, the player demonstrates their worthiness to a great one, as a being capable of comprehending them.

Just had a thought about the Make Contact emote. It is essentially making a right angle, then switching. One arm is horizontal, the other is vertical. We learn in the DLC that the cosmos are 'just above our heads' in regards to verticality, but without insight, you exist solely in the world you inhabit, the horizontal one. The gesture is interesting because at first you have one arm horizontal and the other vertical. One arm represents your existence in the real world, while the other represents the existence of this weaved cosmos of multiple worlds. When you switch arms, you are asking the great ones to reveal themselves to your world so that you can experience the theirs (done by moving the horizontal arm vertical, and the vertical arm horizontal). That is why mother brain only interacts with you when you switch and why the doll is pleased to see you change sides. Or maybe everyone already knew that and I'm just stupid lol

Further sightseeing: 1) From the bridge leading to Cathedral Ward and from the area of Cathedral Ward where you find the monocular, you can see almost all of Old Yharnam in detail, from the door that you exit from the lamppost, the subsequent bridge, the breaks in the wall that many of us were shot through on our first playthrough, to the lower area leading to the Church of the Good Chalice. From Yharnam, you can also see the boss arena in its entirety, which runs between the Great Bridge and the other. (Ever notice that it has no ceiling? I didn't.) In fact, the ladder that leads you from the sewers near the pig to the.boulder pushers on the bridge takes you up right next to the church's front wall. The church is completely missing from the view from Cathedral Ward, likely due an oversight or to save on memory. Possibly due to a lack of foresight, the scaling of the church relative to the bridges is strikingly different when viewed from the front of the church itself, but hey, at least they tried. All of this is best viewed at night or after the blood moon since the mist is thinner during these phases. 2) Over the bridge from the Old Yharnam lamppost in the far back left corner where a hooded pygmy beast waits is, with the right position and camera angle, a partial view of the Graveyard of the Darkbeast, including the cave that you come out of from Yahargul Chapel and the ledge that you walk down on. Implicitly, the buildings that you clearly see from this view are the Unseen Village itself, although the explorable area remains characteristically unseen. On a tangential note, around this viewing area there are bunches of statues chained together, presumably having once arrived as a shipment but were never unpacked. By the tree closest to the viewing area, there are five statues unchained, one of which is a man with a clearly carved face and beard. To my knowledge, the only other place this man-statue exists in the game is as part of the large monolith in the center of Oedon's Tomb. Moreover, the only other place in the game such a monolith exists is where we (may) first meet Alfred, although in this case the statue depicts an individual wearing a Gold Ardeo, possibly Logarius. This begs the question: who is this other man-statue depicting? Since these monoliths are dedicated to the eminent, and the package that this lone statue belonged to was opened with priority, my bet would be that the statue depicts Laurence. 3) If you peer down through the mist from the upper levels of the Healing Church Workshop, you can see the Old Abandoned Workshop, clearly marked by "the great tree" where you meet with Gehrman in the Hunter's Dream version. From the same view, as well as from the Old Abandoned Workshop itself, you can also see the "ancient shrouded church" as well as the patio courtyard where you fight the two Yarhargul hunters. Implicitly, again, the buildings behind the church are the unseen village. 4) From around the Grand Cathedral, you can see almost all of the exterior area of Upper Cathedral Ward, including the bridge to the first lamppost, the bridge to Celestial Emissary, and, most notably, the glowing balcony where you learn the Making Contact gesture. You can also see the Healing Church Workshop and the bridge to it here. From the bridge to Celestial Emissary, you can also see the cave that leads you to the hunting grounds en route to Hemwick Charnel Lane. 5) From the area overlooking the woods, near where Alfred eventually stands, you can see both windmills. Also, from Byrgenwerth, you can see also see the windmill from which you can see Byrgenwerth.

Oh I dunno, something to do with making sure I dodge the 6 arms furiously slashing at me through 2 dimensions made it less of a priority to rate her dancing skills... Also i dunno if y'all are just deaf in 2020 but I turn my in game music down on every game I play cause often they have this bad habit of blasting shit music over the more low key moments and/or they just have bad soundtracks. All from-soft games, RDR2, GT Sport (I turn this off cause it sucks)... basically the only games I havent done it for lately are FF7 remake and Spiderman ps4 and even then I turned the master volume down for music cause it's always louder than it needs to be. (Edit: oh wait, one recent game i left the music volume the same for was Undertale - for obvious reasons)

That's actually an affect of the screaming beast patients. When the large beast patients scream, they buff everything around them and cause affected enemies' eyes to start glowing red. The buff appears to increase overall aggression of the buffed enemies, and may also increase durability and/or attack in some form? If the large beast patient has a sheet over them, it also gives the buffed enemies a slow poisoning effect (which is why the werewolves down there inconsistently inflict slow poison). When the buff is refreshed on werewolves, they are momentarily stunned because they enter a swaying "being buffed" animation (in which their eyes revert to their original color) before resuming their attack.

Didn't want to read through all the comments, so sorry if someone already got it. You can actually see all of Old Yharnam from the "trap" bridge where a fire ball rolls down at you. If you look to the right, can see not only the lower portion (standing directly above Blood-starved Beast) but you can see the tower where Djura is and I traced the path the player takes through the upper section as well.

Concerning Queen Yarnahm and Annalise: The "Vile-blood" referred to by Alfred has to be the special blood causing rapid poisoning on touch. This blood is shared by Queen Yarnahm (probably the source), the headless Bloodletting Beast (who is the last boss before reaching Yarnahm and also "The host of the Beast Blood") and Queen Annalise herself. Notice that as soon as you partake of Annalise's Blood, you yourself become a "Vileblood" and as you coat the Chikage with your blood it also starts to deal rapid poisoning damage. Another little detail I recognized, is that the "Queen of the Vilebloods" track from the soundtrack prominently uses a part of the Moon Presence's boss theme (at about 1:53). Considering the obscure links between the Moon Presence, the Paleblood Moon, Mergo and Yarnahm's spectre, I can't help but think that's not just coincidence...

Well, the dancing messengers and beast roar blocking projectiles sure were new things for me. Did you also know there's this weird thing in chalice dungeons where a symbol of sort appears under your character, and a bunch of messengers appear and pull you down some worm hole thingy. Then you reappear somewhere in the chalice dungeon. I've seen some clips about that and it's just weird.

Hmmm, perhaps the reason you only get applauded/rewarded when you switch sides with the Make Contact is because THAT is the correct side for the gesture, and only by doing it 100% correctly can you TRULY make contact? Thinking back to when the Make Contact gesture was first brought up, if I recall correctly the woman in the painting shown had her arms held in the position you only hold up after one minute. I'm not an expert by any stretch but here's my two cents.......... from what I've heard Bloodborne ,unlike dark souls, rewards aggressive play-styles.... Dark souls rewards patience, pushing you to whittle your opponents down attack by attack. Here's 15 more interesting insights for you Vaati, Since your struggling for more for your next insights video.... 1. If you bring a summon or two to Roms boss fight, there's a chance that you would get to see and kill his minions before they actually spawn. 2. The biggest giveaway to someone that is hidden as a messenger with the messenger gift is this, the messengers textures are odd compared to a real messenger, messengers only appear if you come close to them and lastly you can't read a fake messenger. 3. The silver sword for the Kirkhammer is shorter than the Holy blades silver sword. 4. On the Threaded Caine you can see near the hilt/handle/top the "Hunters Mark" symbol. 5. The Choir Bell can actually damage in the right conditions, for example I accidentally killed the injured Eileen with the Choir bell. 6. The land in the hunters dream appears to be floating, just walk near the gate to the final boss fight, and you can see from the shorter replacement fence....

The reason why it seems that Insight reduces beast hood is that it's symbolism, of Master Willam and Lawrence with there struggle with insight and the blood that posses the beast hood, even their differences and struggle shows in their studies/subject. 8. In the workshop you can see Gehrmans Scythe behind the work shops, weapon work table but the Scythe itself seems folded in some way. 9. Those huge grey pillars in the dream with the fog seems to be a reference to the way things existed, in darks souls before the lords overthrown the dragons, so perhaps the dream is older than anyone thought. 10. On Farther Gascoigne's Garb you can see the beastly fur coming over the belt/paints, even when the player wears it strange don't you think? 11. Farther Gascoigne Garbs also possesses these silver Talons/Decoration, that is the same type that you find but only larger when you are approaching the Grand Cathedral, the normal way.....

The "Iron Door Key" in its description actually hints why there is a locked door in a nightmare, trust me there must be a very good reason because there is no thief's in there. 13. The "Sinister Lower Loran Root Chalice" is (I believe) the only chalice that you can buy from messengers, exclusively in a chalice dungeon itself. 15. In the "Upper Cathedral Ward" some of the little baby Ebrietas creatures in a little group, come together and raise their little arms praying to the direction Ebrietas is.

Also some extras to add... 16. In those white squid creatures like the ones in the nightmare frontier, they have what appears to be dark messengers inside of them. 17. In the nightmare frontier you can see from the ledge what appears to be crashed ships in the fog, with a piece of a flag dancing around its pole. 18. Stone shards have a structure of a DNAs, even the Blood Rock. 19. If you look closer at the insight skulls you can see a white great one child, the same look to the great one you become in the ending. But if you look at the "Great Ones Wisdom" after "Madmans Knowledge" you can see many more smaller ones are born with it. 20. You can get a coldblood that is better than "Kin Coldblood (12)", it's called "Great One Coldblood" this one contains some of the cosmos itself.

One more discovery... If you watch most walkthroughs focused on Ebrietas, practically every player just charges toward her, initiating the battle. If you take 20 seconds to walk up to her slowly, she won't turn around, giving you a giant window to get in a charge attack as your first hit. Even if she kills you, you can still do this during your next attempt with her. I never see this mentioned anywhere, so I just thought I'd add it in.

Hey, try this: Early on in Cainhurst, you can see the city of Yharnam--or the cathedral at least--on the hill across the lake in the distance. But past the hallway over the gate, the one guarded by the lone servant, you can look out windows or out from roofs and the cathedral won't be on the hill. Cainhurst nobles apparently illusioned up the castle so they didn't have to look at Yharnam.

It'd mean her blood is a mixture of human and great one, but perhaps more 'pure' than the mixture of those who used blood transfusion and became Beasts. As such in the eyes of the church it would be vile not just because of the fact that it was stolen, but because it's not the pure blood of a Great One. However, it would in fact be more pure than those of Hunters or Beasts, whose blood is mixed artificially. This is probably why instead of turning into ravenous beasts, the two Queens are instead granted immortality and great power...and why you, as a Hunter, taking their blood really does little, since your blood is already cut.

Careful with that Sharpen, buddy. One way to help make sure you aren't over sharpening the video is to look at frames with the fences in the hunters dream, or other thin objects to see if you can start to see them get a bit jagged due to the pixels being too defined. Other than that, good job with the quality improvement.

This is definitely already known, but as far as things you can see from other areas, you can see the tower with Djura, the machine gun guy, just as you first exit Iosefka's clinic. Also between Central and Old Yharnam, you actually fight the Blood-starved beast underneath and between the bridge where you fight the Cleric Beast and the bridge that takes you to the Gascoigne fight. You can look down from either of those bridges onto the broken cathedral where you fight the BSB. You can also see other details of old Yharnam that seem to confirm this. I'm pretty sure you can also see the Hunter's Workshop from Hemwick Charnel Lane too. Those are just a few I've noticed so far on my current playthrough. Could be wrong on any of these, but the world maps seem to confirm this stuff

One thing I still have trouble with.... who is Mensis? at first I thought it was the brain, and maybe it is, and he or she was something else before being granted the audience itself, but then there's Micolash, who throws that line of though out the window for me. Anyone?

+Zagardal My guess is that Mensis is another Great One cult that wanted to be great ones, same as Micolash. I believe that when a person becomes a Great One, it sort of creates this path that other people can follow and become Great Ones themselves. Eventually Mensis found the Mother Brain, who could be representative of Kosm (since Micolash kept talking about it and every area of BB has a specific pattern of showing a Great One, its cult, and its surrounding influences, take Upper Cathedral Ward, the Choir, and Ebrietas for example) and since the brain is the only Great One around that area Mico was probs talking about Kosm (aka mensis brain). Perhaps Mensis folk became another brain or was infused into the Kosm brain, or maybe Kosm was formless like Oedon and someone from Mensis was "ascended" and became the brain. My theory is that Kosm is Mergo's "parent" and Kosm used Queen Yahrnam as a surrogate. Eventually Mergo was made, and since Queen Y "lost" Mergo (everyone great one loses its infant) the umbilical cord was lost, which was found eventually by Mensis crew, which led them to Kosm, which lead to the Nightmare. Micolash is the sole survivor of Mensis, and the last "host" of the nightmare.

Mensis is the name of the ritual in which the scholars of the church of Yahar'Gul put cages onto their heads, so they could be brought closer to the great ones and seek communion with Mergo. That is why the cages they wear are called the Cages of Mensis, and that is why the nightmare is called the Nightmare of Mensis. Also, on a side note, I feel as though the brain of Mensis was originally someone from Byrgenwerth, as it was Master Willem's original epiphany that lead to people lining their brains with eyes. Also, if this is right, then perhaps the Brain of Mensis is actually Kosm, as Micolash points out that Kosm was the one that lined Rom's brain with eyes and turned him into a spider; and as we know, Rom was likely also a scholar at Byrgenwerth. Another reason I believe this is because there are spiders all over the Nightmare of Mensis, something which Kosm seemingly does to anything it lines with eyes.

Actually you're right in some respect, Mensis is the name of the church of Yahar'Gul, something which I misunderstood. I discovered this yesterday by playing Bloodborne and reading the description of one of the Third Cords; it read as follows: "This Cord granted Mensis audience with Mergo, but resulted in the stillbirth of their brains." What this says to me is that Mensis is a collective, not an individual, as terms such as "their brains" are used when discussing Mensis. I suppose this means that Micolash was the head of the School of Mensis, and the one who discovered this Third Cord and sought audience with Mergo. Although with all this said, Mensis had to come from somewhere, so I can say for certain that Mensis was somebody at some point in time. God this game is so in depth; but I think that's why I love it so much ^-^
