So you rub scabs on your weapons and they get stronger? That's some Salad fingers stuff right there.
@odeliafrancescaroav9808
@odeliafrancescaroav9808 4 жыл бұрын
Actually, I don't think it's scabs? I believe it's blood iron-- the actual Iron in the blood itself solidifying, and then being melded into the weapons for fortification. Realistically, you COULD make an entire sword out of blood iron, but you'd need to kill a lot of people for that, as blood in the real world coagulates and oxidizes fairly quickly. It is still technically possible though, and I think this is what the blood stones are.

@@odeliafrancescaroav9808 have you heard about how when the vikings started attacking england the english soldiers were baffled by their fighting techniques and their appearance? they also noted that the viking's weapons seamed to be made of stronger metal, since the viking axes were able to break the saxon's iron swords. this was before blacksmiths knew how to carbonize iron and thus make stronger steel. well it turns out the viking were making low grade steel unbeknownst to them by tempering their iron axes and swords in animal's blood (possibly human blood aswell, vikings were pretty crazy) they thought they were imbuing the weapons with the strength of the animal but in reality the carbon from the blood was reinforcing the iron, making a semi-steel.

I'm amazed at how people keep digging up stuff about Bloodborne and the best thing is that very few of these theories and analysis are made up, the majority of these elements really seem to have logic and a reason to be in the game.

There is also a certain degree of irony that the old one's blood, taken from beings whose whole being were dedicated to ascending beyond their bodies/mortal forms, was used to conceive 'healing blood' for use in blindly injecting into mortals whose whole being was assumedly bent on retain their fleeting mortal forms or revel in the degeneracy of their mortality (e.g. blood was more intoxicating than alcohol & assumedly substituted for it). I can't help but think that this amazingly stark conflict set up the beast plague as an inevitable cost of such unresolvable differences between the two alien existences.

I cannot express how grateful and happy I am with the marvelous work you been giving to Bloodborne lovers, your videos are only getting better and better, and I can't wait for the next one! So far, this is my favorite of all Bloodborne videos you made, even though is more speculative, but perhaps is precisely why I find it more interesting than the others, since it is about a topic very obscure and not much explored by the lore studies out there. The Blood Echoes in the japanese version is called literally Echoes of The Blood, which we can assume that is the will of who died that the Hunters are able to perceive, but in my opinion besides their will is also some of their knowledge. The parallel you traced between madness and coldblood tier might be directly connected to the amount of Insight that the person/beast/etc had prior their death, seem to tie Echoes and Insight well together. And if we look it this way, Laurence was not so far from Master Willem when he decided to pursue the path of Blood, he was in a way seeking Insight. Maybe Master Willem realized that the Blood (possibly because of the Old Blood influence) taint any knowledge that could be obtained from the Echoes, and decided to discard the method altogether, and pursue a method that allow one to ascend without any sort of organic contact with the Great Ones. Again, I am really happy to have one more amazing lore hunter to join this wonderful world of Bloodborne, and for what I would like to see next maybe one in depth study about Laurence and/or Byrgenwerth? In my opinion he is one of the most misunderstood characters of this game, and that institution is one of the least explored extensively (at least lore-video wise), I have a lot of thoughts about the two and I would love to see if any of what you have to say matches with my own theories. Thank you for your amazing work, and please do not stop any time soon.

As for the latter part of the video, where you bring up the issue of coagulation via the Beast Blood Pellets, I am reminded of the old philosophical concept of blood’s 4 humors. When blood is settled, it separates into platelets, red blood cells, white blood cells, and plasma. However, doctors did not know that was what they were. Doctors would test your blood to see which humors were elevated or low and attempt to remedy that, thinking that mood and disposition were linked to these humors. If you think of Miyazaki as using that concept, then that would explain it. 4 humors. One which becomes blood rock. One which crystallizes. One which remains liquid. One which coagulates. And each humor is found in different amounts in different people, changing their personalities due to the blood.

So we know that cold blood flowers grow from coldblood in places long abandoned. I'm interested into whether this means places no one has set foot in for a long time specifically or simply places with very old infrastructure and that haven't been maintained for a long time as a church or house might be. Taking this into consideration, if we look at the boss fight arena for Gehrman, is it possible all the flowers are in fact coldblood flowers? If so, how many hunters has Gehrman slain after they have come and gone through the hunters dream, and from the extent of their growth we can only imagine how long he's been locked up in there.

From what I recall, a certain shifty fellow gives you Beast Pellets after someone taking sanctuary in Oedon Chapel is slain. Perhaps he's just giving you a prized item to thank you for the nice meal, but it could be inferred that he does something to his victims to create the pellets. You could well have walked in on him trying to make more as you found him stooped over the corpses.

I’m surprised you left out an overlooked detail in regards to frenzied blood. When a man or beast comes into contact with a Winter Lantern or the Brain of Mensis, the victims blood erupts forth from their body as solid spears which causes physical harm over time then turns back into a liquid. In the nightmare of mensis you will find bodies of church hunters who’ve suffered the worst and that their erupted blood has remained solid spears. True, some would say it’s an indicator your in trouble but I wonder if the Spear erupting blood has more to it then just that. Like I said, the blood erupts forth as spears then turns back into a liquid. Those who’ve come into very close contact with the Brain of Mensis, their blood spears are rock solid. Anyway, just something I figure I should mention. Winter Lanterns fascinate me and I’ve been trying to find lore in regards to them...least my own opinion if nothing else.

Thanks for your feedback! I suppose that could work as an analogy, yes. I'm no expert on whey/cheese/dairy by-products though. A good way of thinking about Blood Gems is simply remembering that gemstones in real life (emeralds, rubies, etc) are crystals, and form out of crystallisation of magma from the Earth's core, similar to how Blood Gems crystallise out of Coldblood/Blood Echoes. Thanks again.

I am basing this off their clothes and where they are located. Is it possible that the healing church distributed a "cheaper" form of the blood healing to the lower class? Also seeing that others have different or stronger doses(ex: Amelia). Let me know what you think.

Hey, great video. Incredibly informative and a good source of enjoyment. Do you think that maybe the blood in the Hunter's dream is less of a physical fluid and more of an embodiment of the soul? Like it says, it's the memories of the slain that forms echo's, so maybe the dream replaces blood with a fluid that encapsulates the owners power

You can describe obsession as "inability to forget" If you are obsessed, you will remember every single facet of something for as long as you are obsessed. There is no stronger memory that exists aside from the extremely rare and specialized version of savants. If the memories are what creates blood echoes, obsessed people would have the absolute strongest possible memories and will(drive) to remember.

Snatchers are really cool. They aren't quite beasts, although they do have some beastly qualities. They are found in the Dungeons, yet bring prisoners to Yharghul along with the Yharghul hunters, which would imply they are in league with Mensis/Micolash. Something interesting would be to talk about the "servants" of sorts that Mensis has under it's control. Consider the giants that guard Cathedral Ward. Presumably these are the same race of giants that are found in the Dungeons. Are they slaves? Did Micolash create indentured guards out of them? Interesting stuff!

On top of the snatchers potentially being Pthumerians or Pthumerian-related and working for Mensis, there are also Pthumerian bell maidens present in the Unseen Village after the red moon descends. Makes me wonder about the extent of Mensis' involvement with the Pthumerians and the chalice dungeons

This isnt anything related to coldblood. But I was thinking about Annalise and the Vilebloods and I thought of something a bit interesting, it is ofc just speculation. Now when we look at Annalise sitting on her throne there is a second empty throne with a pool of blood that seems as if it came from someone sitting on the empty throne. Now when you look at this, you probably assume that the throne and the blood belongs to the King or the husband of Annalise. This guy was most likely murdered by the Executioners when they raided Castle Cainhurst. But I have a couple of theories on who's throne this may also belong to. Now I'm not as knowledgeable on the lore of Bloodborne as I used to be, but dont the Vilebloods believe they are descendants of the Pthumerians (correct me if I'm wrong). If this is true, that would mean that the monarch would be Annalise (obviously) as the monarchs of the Pthumerians were female. Also we know from the Ring of Betrothal that Great Ones would essentially marry the Pthumerian Monarchs. So, if the Vilebloods believe they are descendants of the Pthumerians they would also take on much of their culture and traditions. What if, and this is a BIG what if, that sitting in that "empty throne" is actually the Great One, Formless Oedon. We know that Oedon has no physical body, but that doesnt mean he doesnt exist in another form. This could also explain why Annalise refers to herself as "us" and "we". When you offer her blood dregs she says "Thy gift pleases Us. Let this reward be thine. Indulge thyself in Our tainted blood." She talks as if there is a third person in the room! This might also explain why she refuses your proposal should you give her the Ring of Betrothal. She is the monarch and so must marry a Great One, and she could very well already be spoken for.(Oedon...) There are a few facts that contradict this theory, but this is getting rather long so I will leave that out. My second theory (and this is much shorter) is that the throne could belong to the "Child of Blood" that Annalise is attempting to give birth too. Thats really all I have for that theory, probably not likely but hey this is Bloodborne, you never know!

I do have some questions on knowledge in the bloodborne world. mainly the relationship between madness, frenzy, and old ones knowledge. how does madness save one from beasthood as the more knowledge one has the harder it is to be a beast, how does frenzy kill, (it can't be suicide, can it? I understand it inflicting pain, but death? or is this just a gameplay mechanic), and how does sight drive one insain (even one of bloodborne's inspiration from lovecraft's works say that mere sight of a cosmic beast cause a loss of one mental facilities.) and how does knowledge affect your senses (40 insight can prematurely show you the elder ones in the main church yard before Rom), is the mind altered at a fundamental level by its understanding?

The idea of blood being a living being got me thinking. What it oden's physical form so to speak is blood echos and cold blood? Oden is known as being formless and think about it the final boss is technically mergo. We know great ones fight eachother and the moon presence seems to be the cause of the hunters and the dream. Perhaps the moon presence and oden are like sworn enemies and that's why the presence wants his child dead. Just a thought

What if Oedon isn't formless, but just all the possibly sentient coldblood everyone is jacked up on?

hey I have a request I want to ask of someone who goes as deep into detail analysing lore basically im looking into the nature of the souls in the souls universe, and I've been trying to figure out exactly what they are, how they work, why they are such an immense power source, we know that the Lord souls originated from the first flame but other souls must have come into being since then, I really hope you can shed some light on the topic of souls

this may be reaching but the cursed chalices have skulls coming out of them similar to the skulls in the ritual blood is it possible that the ritual blood is the part of blood that's cursed? and extremely good video btw!
@mitchl6896
@mitchl6896 7 жыл бұрын
That's a reaaally good point. I've been really interested in how curses actually "work" in the concept of Bloodborne, particularly the curse that the Fishing Hamlet shaman levies onto the hunters and scholars of Byrgenwerth. For blood to become corrupted is what BB is all about, after all. Thanks!

care to elaborate more on what you mean with the watchers "lowering the defenses" of the chalice dungeons with ritual materials? first time hearing that the chalice dungeons have any sort of defenses or psychic wards
@jacobhoover1654
@jacobhoover1654 3 жыл бұрын
There r multiple item descriptions that reference seals requiring rituals to break. Seal is interchangable with the term ward. The chalice dungeons are implied to be a dreamscape or nightmare and not a regular physical place.

I’ve yet to see any commentary linking “TheWatchers” to the Book of Enoch and their description of “TheWatchers” ie: a fallen race of benevolent entities. Missing from the commentary as well includes the Afro-centric Muslim view of “Anglos” along with their origin, which claim they crawled out of underground caves/dungeons. The Pleadian/Pthumerian/Sumerian all bear a striking semblance to each other. Bloodborne is by far the most challenging and intriguing game I’ve played thus far on the PS4. It would make an amazing movie IMHO

The blood of the Great Ones runs thick with knowledge. With power. The dream is an artery, a holy river that spatters crimson upon the brains of the sky gazers. Stars bleed with the blood of Their Kin. We partake of it in communion and their cold embrace liberates our frail bodies from ignorance. Be warned, Imbiber, for knowledge is given only to those that echo in tune with the voice of blood. There... There in the firmament of the blood, will you find the truth of passionate obsession. - Madman’s Knowledge

If seen from a chemical and biological standpoint, most of the things seen in bloodborne might be entirely possible. Coldblood might be an organic solvent of sorts, derived from another more complex life forms such as the old ones. Blood echoes might be some kind of enzymes, which form gems when coldblood dries up eventually. With evolution, all of this is possible, even the beastly scourge. Except that the beasts wouldn't be bigger than humans, due to mass conservation. By that standpoint if the beasts don't have the qualities of dogs or wolves, they might even be recognised better as zombies. Blam, bloodborne in real life is a zombie apocalypse
