I like how this song portraits hunters. We're used to see them as those edgy bois in black cloaks, but the Church hunters were a brutal paramilitary organisation with carte blanche for violence. They had supernaturally reinforced bodies, so ordinary people had no chance to fight back, and, because of blood transfusions, they were known for sudden urges of rage. No wonder they were sometimes hated even more than the plague itself.

+iiswalo It's always a little disconcerting when you realize you may not be the hero of the story. Bloodborne, Borderlands, and Skyrim all taught me that being the main character in a videogame doesn't equal being the good guy. And I loved it.

Hey Gavin. First off I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your music. It really makes the games you make your songs about a whole lot more awesome. I too am an aspiring music artist and I have been working on a whole bunch of remixes and original songs of my own these past couple of months and I'll be more than happy to share them with the public when they are ready but for now I would like a favor to use this song in one of my videos. You see, I just beat Bloodborne yesterday and I wanted to give my viewers a little something special with my fight with Gehrman and the Moon Presence and I thought why not use something like this for it. I promise I will give you proper credit and whatever else you would like in return for this. I do not wish to infringe any of your rights for making this song so if it would be ok, I would most certainly like to use this.

You perfectly capture the dark and oppressive nature of Bloodborne, and I feel like any uplifting tones that slip in are immediately snuffed out, slaughtered--that's a joy. The ending bit with the music box and the doll? Really goes a long way to encapsulate certain, ah, story-sensitive stuff. In all? 10/10, will buy and put on repeat.

The song is an umbilical cord's worth
@kenjincapers
@kenjincapers 5 жыл бұрын
Oh gods. The lyrics at the end actually hint at an ending. *Spoilers ahead if you haven't beat the game with enough umbilical cords consumed* the cogs creak a melody (mergos lullaby) sing a lullaby for the doomed(ok referring to Margo now) find a vessel in the pale blood moon...moon presence doesn't absorb echoes(to our knowledge)we do. We basically become a baby moon presence at the end of the game, in a way the song kinda makes some fun suggestions about the game. Firstly we become the paleblood moon. Secondly (and there's some decent in game evidence for this one) this was the goal all along we were seeking paleblood to become it, lightly hinted at in the seek paleblood to transcend the hunt note at the beginning of the game. (The ideas itself aren't terribly new but it's nice how he went through the effort for even the implied in game stuff)
@AceTaxiaGaming

Absolutely gorgeous. Its incredible how truly emotive your music is. I love how the slightly more defiant section kind of transitions into this disturbing kind of butcher's rhythm which is somehow much more horrifying, in it's perverse triumph, than the out right march of the damned at the start. I haven't played the game and now I desperately want to. If your music is accurate in how it relays the tones and themes, and from the other comments I know it is, than this game is for me.

I'm kinda repeating myself but I don't care - you really know how to make masterpieces out of these dark, brooding themes. Again, top notch work! :) So, I think it's safe to say you enjoyed Bloodborne - is it your new "Souls" favourite? :)
@miracleofsound
@miracleofsound 9 жыл бұрын
Simon Mezgec Hard to say! I enjoyed the combat more in general in Bloodborne (it has much harder bosses than Dark Souls, at least for me) and the city was an incredible location. However Dark Souls had more environment variety and cooler interconnectivity... I love them both :)

miracleofsound That's awesome to hear, can't wait to sink my teeth into my copy! Your fantastic song is not exactly making the wait any easier, you know... :P But it's really interesting to hear your opinion because I went through similar phases as you did - first I couldn't get into DS1 no matter how hard I tried and then, since that moment where it suddenly clicked, I am completely hooked to these games! :D So I imagine I'll enjoy Bloodborne as much as you did. :)

miracleofsound Haha, amen to that. :D The funny thing is that I don't actually remember when that moment was - you just suddenly find yourself loving it. It's like you want to hate it at first, but it doesn't let you. Which is oddly appropriate given the lore of these games. :P

After listening and watching all your videos about Dark Souls and Bloodborne now, I have to say that you really have a talent to catch the game's essence with your combination of music and the ingame scenes. I spent lots of hours in the games and when I see your videos and hear your music with it I feel completely in the game again. This is very amazing!

The instrumentation reminded me, at first, a bit of another favorite of mine, Fires Far. Then it branched of into something that truly fits with Bloodborne's extremely gothic atmosphere (how did From Soft make something MORE gothic than Dark Souls, what a feat). I must admit though, I was hoping for some elements of the cosmic horror seen in Bloodborne, but I could have just been zoning out and missed it. Question: Who sings your choir chanting bits? Or did you write lyrics to some audio clips you had already? That threw me off some. Gav, I love your music. Excellent work as always. Keep doing what you do. May the good Blood guide your way! And let us cleanse these tarnished streets! :D

Polonium Fist There is a reference to the cosmic horror. the last few lines of the song speaks of finding a vessle in the paleblood moon. And i like that he made the reference this subtle. Just like the bloodborne trailers didnt warn you of the cosmic horror part, but instead lead you to believe it would be purely "van hellsing" inspired.

BLOODBORNE SPOILERS? YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!! . Gav, did you make this song based on Bloodborne's 3 endings? It seems to me you did, reasons being: Verse 1 is about "rising from the deepest dream" "fading howls and scream", just as the "Waking World" ending, when you let the old man take your head, and you awaken in the city, greeted by the sunshine. In Verse 2 the song explains the hunt, the hunter remembers the hordes of prey, the sensation of slaughtering them while "weaving past them". Plus the term "we" indicates more hunters, most likely after taking the old man's position, and helping new hunters. While the last Verse sings about a Vessel and a Lullaby, which parallels with the ending in which the hunter turn into the infant great one, being the vessel of the next "moon presence". Those are my theories, hope i didnt cause a headache :D

I tried putting this song through three different languages in Google Translate for fun today. This is the result: Springs from the deepest sleep. An oasis in the mist. The howling and shouting fade sickly. Pale Blood will guide you. Make changes in treatment. The bleak unhappy chiming clocks. Pale Moon Blood Screams echo. Teeth, toes and toes. Meat, Maul and order. Teeth, toes and toes. Meat, Maul and order. Animal cruel and brutal blades. Carve and noise and division. Bathed in Blood damn late. Through the withers that looms. Pale Blood will guide you. Make changes in treatment. The bleak unhappy chiming clocks. Pale Moon Blood Screams echo. Dental crisis melody. Sing a song of cradle doomed. They would never. Blood vessel located in Pale Moon.
