You need to kill either bsb or cleric beast to proceed, he kills cleric so he can open the gate in cathedral ward since you can't drop down the tower without taking damage.

Other than key items, yeah it's technically possible to beat the game without any gear or level-ups. Just very slow and frustrating

You should play nioh 2 cuz its mechanics are fun but extremely hard to master. The game pretends to imitate dark souls but it punishes you for playing it like ds. The only problem is that you can't really do runs on it.

Unclear why you kill both Cleric and BSB. Am I missing something? I get why you kill Cleric for the gate key, because you probably couldn’t make all the drops in cathedral ward without taking damage. But why kill BSB?
