Bloodgood Japanese Maple

I have recently started growing JM's from cuttings and have 12 new plants. My Dad gave me a Sycamore Maple sapling back in 2000 which we potted up and it has grown well. By 2016 it was about 12 feet tall. This May, I pruned it down to 2 feet leaving a side branch and it has responded very well with 5 new branches and many leaves and is 4 feet tall now in a large pot. I even have it appear in some of my YT videos as it's been around for so long :)

Thanks for the great video about Bloodgood. I saw a few red Japanese maples. I am not sure if they were Bloodgood or some other variety, but some of them showed spectacular fall foliage, and others just had leaves that did not change color and then shriveled up. I was wondering if you know what my cause that. I am asking because I am trying decide whether or not I should get Bloodgood.

I was looking at some young ones at a nursery, early to mid May in NJ. They are dark purple. I saw a mature one in someone’s yard and it is more “fiery”. I’m wondering if there is color variation tree to tree, or is it age difference?

It's time of season. As the weather gets colder it goes back into a crimson red and less purple.

Yes. The only thing is they have a larger leaf.
