Two of my favorite Japanese maples are Purple Ghost and Beni Maiko. Purple Ghost gives a scarlet red display of the big leaves in the spring, then turns into full green in the summer, then turns back to red for the fall display. Beni Maiko also gives scarlet red display in spring, but the leave are tiny in spring. Then it turns into beautiful pinkish/green in mid spring and fades into green in summer, before finally turning orange/red in fall.

Please help me out with a little advice. I'm going for this look in my yard. But I don't understand something. I'm sure all these trees are going to outgrow these tight spaces. What do these types of gardeners do... Prune for the space, move the plants once they outgrow the area?
@amazingmaples3 жыл бұрын
Every now and then I do have to move a tree because it is growing too large but to the most part the right plant selection and pruning allows the plants to remain this close without damage.
@therootandvein3 жыл бұрын
@@amazingmaples thank you for your advice. Your garden is absolutely and unbelievably perfect. Such an inspiration to someone like me. Would you say maybe you take a fraction off of their mature size to accommodate for pruning in order to know what size its area needs to be? Hello Thanks for advising people of wrong information. If you know your plant varieties, you would understand that these plant types can be grown this close and they will not grow into other the the plant that is 3 feet . The majority of the conifers selected grow less than an inch a year and the maples are also very slow growers. Also note that if you watch my videos, I am constantly digging up trees and rearranging the garden for a different look. So again thanks for the advice but you need to understand all of the garden. Charlie
