We use it as hand-line for chumming for tuna usually! She only used a small length here for the demonstration, normally you use about 30 ft.

It's mainly used for tuna fishing here in Hawaii because of it's strength and durability!

Hi Tim, Sorry to hear you're confused. We didn't do a tutorial on this method of fishing, just on the line to line connection for this method of fishing. If you skip to the last 20 seconds, Rachel explains that this is for when your reel is filled with 300lb jerry brown hollow core, so yes a rod and reel is used. Usually, the braid will be reeled up but when you hit the bloodline, someone will grab it and hand-line the rest of the palu bag up.
