@@lapd509509 because the games are made for the eshop and playstation store but a company called LIMITED RUN GAMES make a limited amount of physical copys and if you go on their website quickly and pre order then you will miss out and scalpers sell them for higher prices. I missed out on the first curse of the moon but I've pre orderd 2 copys of curse of the moon 2! They're only $30!! Dont miss out.

Just started playing this a little less than an hour ago now. . . Long story short, if the first game was up your alley, drop the $15 for this one. Absolutely loving it so far. If you've never played the original Curse of the Moon, but love games in the style of the Castlevania's of old, 100% recommend. I'm personally on the Curse of the Moon > Ritual of the Night boat as well, though both series are quality.

Respectable opinion. I do like old school Castlevania games but Metroidvania was more of my cup of tea. I always liked the RPG elements as well as cutscenes and more story, also it's a longer game. RotN execution was good but it had flaws and graphics don't matter too much but the graphics on it was weird.

In defense of the last mode: in order to get upgrades you don't have to finish the stage. The game even informs you that you'll keep the upgrades if you exit the stage via menu. This way you only need to complete each stage once and then, having all characters, it's very easy to pick upgrades. As long as you remember different routes and not get lost in the branching rooms of course. (hint: just think which routes you can take with new characters only and old characters only)

6:18 False; damage that the boss takes isn't limited to whoever dealt it. There were several times during my playthrough where I used Hachi to damage and he died, but the damage stayed the same. It's only until all characters die that the boss' health is restored

Yeah, I loved the first 2 playthroughs (got the good ending right away) but my god... the final episode is just brutal. Upgrades are hidden in a way, that you mostly need to be a bat or use the mech. Problem is, they are in the last 2 stages. Next problem: They are so bullshit that you basically need upgrades for, especialy for the Boss in Stage 7... but you won't get upgrades, since you don't have these 2 chars. And rocking the Stage 7 Boss with more than 4 chars isn't much help, since he does 4 points of damage... on casual difficulty... with a pattern which is pure guessing or using invincibility (which you can't abuse for the whole fight, since you have no upgrades).

characters are random. You got unlucky. You can easily start the episode and have Gebel on Lvl 1 and Hachi on lvl 3

Seems The Final episode is super unbalanced, I’ve heard multiple reviews complain about the difficulty curve, yet I breezed through it because Miriam makes each stage a joke while Alfred with the lightning sub weapon just recks bosses, best way to handle the final episode is honestly to just go in order and then go back for upgrades later

This guy missed the point of what Bloodstained is supposed to be. It's a new Castlevania series. We haven't had a Castlevania game in years. Plus I love playing as the original CoTM cast. Once a whip user, always a whip user. Also, the game being brutally hard is not a bad thing. Modern games are too easy. CoTM 2 shakes its head and shows them what difficulty truly is. The game is excellent, and it's a wonderful upgrade from Curse 1. The added local multiplayer is also a neat feature. No online is a good thing. There's already way too many online multiplayer games.

Still like COTM1 more. Inti put their megaman 10 difficulty into place and it's more irritating than fair. The extra episodes feel more like a slog than naturally desired. Presentations way better tho, really great dark atmosphere. Music heres somehow SO much better.

Episode 3 was too ambitious for it's own good that it felt bloated & frustrating that Koji Igarashi & team needs to address. If I have one example of a suggestion to patch Ep 3 for the better, make the Candle Checkpoint a Warp Point just to cut the backtracking.

Except this game is a multi playthrough to do everything and get every ending and use all the characters, so that couldn't be further from the truth when it takes a minimum of 4 playthroughs to complete it....and it's not trying to duplicate sotn....its meant to replicate the 8 bit castlevania games, which it does incredibly. Dont play these type of games if you are tired of them. I'm tired of huge open world games with 7000 different markers on the map wanting me to go fetch a special colored rock and a shoestring for someone, or some other random bs, so I just dont play those types of games. People will always love these 8 bit retro games. Too many people grew up with them to be any other way, so you might want to get use to it, just like I know some people love the open world fetchquest heavy games, and that wont change just because I'm tired of them and dont find getting some old ladies frying pan back particularly fun.

I bought the original game on Steam, hoping to get into the Castlevania-style genre. HOWEVER, as soon as I saw that this game retains the CHEAP TRASHY features of those old 90s side platformers, i.e. cheap death shenanigans like for example projectiles (or say swooping bats) that push you to your death while you are on tight platforms and having to deal with that constantly from the beginning of the game, I immediately closed the game and asked for a refund and I have no regrets about it because I have no intention of going back to those 90s-style super unforgiving platformers that I had to deal with back in the day as a kid. I always love the challenge, but NOT when goes beyond that and becomes more *frustrating* than *challenging.* Shame they didn't try to *modernize it* with better gameplay design even after all these years.

Casual mode is exactly there to get those who don't want a challenge into the game, you could have played that instead of immediately dismissing the whole thing.

@@MrMrFreddy ^^ I second this. It's literally why casual mode exists. Not only that, but it's pretty clear gamers don't want to actually be "challenged". . . Rather, people just want their own personal feeling of almost being pushed to the edge and feeling like they overcame something, rather than actually improving and actually overcoming something. Not everyone is or has to be great at a genre / game, but nothing about Curse of the Moon, especially on standard difficulty settings, is all that hard. Seems pretty par for the course, but to each their own.
