When I set out to report this, I had no idea what an empire the Dallas Cowboys and the Joneses had built. I'm still left with some questions: Cowboys fans (and Cowboys non-fans), what is it about this team that inspires such loyalty, well beyond Dallas and Texas? Has the Jones family just monetized a fervent base of supporters, or has their willingness to make money off just about everything -- adjacent office space, merch, training camp brought in MORE fans?

In my view, the video underscores the reality that the NFL is fundamentally a business. However, what sets the Dallas Cowboys apart is their ability to distinguish their on-field performance from their unparalleled business success.

This is what makes me uncomfortable with America sport industry. It's about maximize value of your investment instead of aiming for sport excellence. A team has not reached Super Bowl for 2 decades but still feel fine? Glazer family is doing the same horrible mindset on Manchester United. From the pinnacle off soccer world, to a group of incompetence. It's all about milking the fan base, nothing about sport, the team & the community.

I was vacationing in Dallas, February of '93. I had no idea they would go on later that year, to win the championship. Had I known, I'd have reminded everyone I met, my favourite team the Red skins, just won their 3rd Superbowl.

Its the "delusion" of their fans that makes the Cowboys so big- fans who for 30 years believe every year without fail that "this season is their season" even with insurmountable evidence that it isn't.

Such an overvalued franchise. The NFL isnt international. The Cowboys have no presence outside of North America. The Yankees merchsells way better all over this planet. I don't know why Forbes estimates are always so inflated when it comes to the NFL

It's really as simple as location. People live and breathe football in Texas. Texas is one of the largest states in the union. Win a couple of chips and your fans will go from statewide to worldwide.

Can't really say much about their non sports business interests, looks like she's an excellent businesswoman, but the main reason the team itself is profitable is because the NFL is running a monopoly. When the NFL instituted a hard salary cap in 1994 (itself a monopolistic practice), it guaranteed team owners profitability. That's the main reason the Cowboys, and many other teams, went from losing money to great profits within a decade. And the profits have only increased ever since. NFL teams are profitable by artificially limiting player salaries.
@JayPlateFaceVideos2 ай бұрын
Teams with a lot of money don't want a salary cap. Rich teams could just go and buy all the best players. Think of the Yankees vs the Pittsburgh pirates in baseball. One team has all the money in the world the other doesn't.
@VinnieBoombatz3742 ай бұрын
@@JayPlateFaceVideos That's if they care about winning. No cap would force them to spend more money (the fans would demand it), and limit profits...or even cause debt (see European football). The smaller market teams want the cap. In baseball, it was the smaller market teams that pushed the luxury tax.
@JayPlateFaceVideos2 ай бұрын
@@VinnieBoombatz374 smaller market teams just couldn't afford to spend the money say the cowboys could afford. Jerry Jones and Robert Kraft have fought to end the salary cap. The NFL would be horrible without a cap in it. You'd have a few teams with the most money buying the best players.
