As a person who watches China's development, I'm amazed at how different China and the West is in terms of managing society. The West tends to let private sector decide, and its society is "gone with the wind". They go through history typically aimlessly. In China, the government is the leading force. They have plan and long-term vision. No one can predict the future, but by having long-term vision, one can follow through challenging goals. The leadership (in China) can adapt to new circumstances quickly if it is worth it. For example, Fusion tech is far from reality (it may take 40 years more). So China now focuses on Green Energy (Solar, Wind) as well as Thorium-based nuclear power. But if someday someguy figures out how to exactly solve Fusion issue, China can rapidly adapt to the new direction. And in this case, no one in Chinese society would complain (or be allowed to complain) about wasteful resources for Thorium-based ones.

China was banned from ISS and then it made it's own space station. If everyone else is allowed to learn, why can't China? Because China could actually become better? China should continue what it is best at, observing, re-engineering, innovating and competing.

The reason I struggle to believe the Lunar landings actually happened is, when Nasa decided to go back to the moon in 2012 or whenever it was, they should have been able to do it in easily under 5 years...and yet we are still waiting for them to return. I mean they had the launch, ferry and landing tech sorted in the 1970s, knew how much it costs, and basically knew everything else. Lets assume 1-2 year for redesing and modifications, 1-2 year for testing, another year for fixing any bugs, 3 years of astronaught training alongside it. Thats 5 years. They dont need to wait for launch windows either. There is only minor RnD extra costs...it just doesnt make sense.

@@nuppalap I do believe it happened I was 9 growing up during the Cold War. I truly believe the USSR would not have let us fake it and get away with it. They were the Evil Empire for real They be screaming to the high heavens it was not real But even Putin doesn’t dispute it happened

@@nuppalap We know, 100% that the original moon landings were real. It’s literally impossible to fake, especially in 1969. Think about a football stadium. 60,000 people in the stands. You claim that you will walk from the goal line on one side to the goal line on the other side. Except you don’t actually do it. I’m pretty sure the people in the stands would notice that you didn’t cross the field. THAT is how difficult it is to fake going to the moon.

it looks to me like NASA had no choice but to use private companies. some private companies eclipse their tiny budget many time over and because politics, its nearly impossible to match what China can do with their government backed version of NASA. remains to be seen if relying on private companies was a great idea.
