The critical factor to his success however is not his IQ (which is still necessary) but rather his drive, determination, his sheer work ethic. Not many of us can put our noses into a really hard textbook on some highly technical subject, and concentrate to the exclusion of all else until one has completely learned what is in the book. Most of us will spend months, if not a year, trying to do what Elon Musk can do in a day or two. That is will power as much as it is IQ.

I'm jealous. I was driving electric cars in 1978. Invented an analog/digital electric race track controller at age 14. Then a Gay sibling caused me to have to drop everything to un-Gay him. I did. It cost me everything. Wish I had ignored my family problems. My intramural football team was the happiest and won every game and the xhampionship. Yes in 1978 I helped a local physics proff with his hollowed out Toyota. He put a surplus jet engine electric starter motor attached to the Celica transmission; used an old welding machine rheostat resistor to moderate the battery power from the phone company surplus batteries in the trunk. It worked! Charged it up with a generator hooked up to a windmill. He let me drive it to do my laundry. He wasn't savvy about pulse width modulation (PWM ) but at that time few were aware of that, so much battery power was lost to heat via the resistor.

The electric car business can and will work. I see 3 things needing to change as a small business owner and consumer in which is to detailed to discuss on a KZbin comment.
