I think it's comupance. If the most beloved, original band in recorded history can't get their act together to honor their fan base even once in 35 years, Rick Astley will. It's beautiful, really.
@tarp11z3 жыл бұрын
@@thewizardssleeve119 Not really. They are artists, but also entertainers. They would be busking in Salford street corners if not for their loyal fan base. I'm pretty sure Johnny, Mike, and Andy know the score. Johnny has been touring with Smiths music with grace and style for several years. As far as Moz, I love him. But his career would not exist without the Smiths. His solo work outside of Viva Hate is far inferior to his work with the band. He owes his fame to the music recorded between '82- and '88. We wouldn't know his name otherwise. And as far as I'm concerned, he owes his fans at least a little for the music he won them over with. A tour a decade would suffice. It would also help the less fortunate members of the Smiths. He owes them something as well. Finally, if the Smiths music is forgotten, it will be because Moz didn't honor his own art enough to see that it passed to the next generation. Look at McCartney. Look at Billy Joel. Look at any number from the old guard. They know their job, and their music is rewarded with longevity. The Smiths music deserves it, if any band does; yet Moz snubs his own legacy. It's foolish, particularly when his current musicians and music are far inferior to who he once had. No grudge is worth that.

if there's a unifying force in the world which will bring at least three back together (sorry Mike, think the ship has long since sailed) it will be their intense opposition to hearing Rick Astley perform their work (which I think is done admirably). Love how they're thinking.
