The flood was the main reason why halo was m-rated. In the games that didnt have the flood is was usually the sheer on-screen brutality of characters getting stabed by knifes or impaled by energy swords. And lets also not forget that 3, odst and reach sometimes had civilians on the battlefield. Halo wars, spartan assault, spartan strike, fireteam raven, halo wars 2 and infinite either dont have these things, dont make them too visual or are generally detached from the action which is why they are the only games rated for teens. And lets not forget halo legends, which is t-rated while most other content of its kind is rated mature.

This mod basically exists to make up for the lack of blood in Halo games since Reach. Everything after that had almost no blood or no blood at all. I do think it would be cool if it had it's activation toned down so we still see bodies flying around, but hard ping deaths like plasma grenades, rockets, vehicle splatter, and needler super combine should totally make a big bloody mess.

Honestly amazed it took us this long to get a Brutal Mod for the original Halo. The game's been on PC for decades, and for a game with so many pieces of extended media in the series being more violent than the games you'd think it would have only been a matter of time.

I like the retro style gore. Would be cool it can be built upon and make a more realistic mod- Like how games such as Last Of Us 1+2, Witcher 3, and Red Dead 2 handles gore. The enemy character models being relatively intact, save for the dismembered portion where you shot them or exploded them or ran them over.

I'd love to see realistic gore on that level in like 3 and reach. really gritty and realistic with bullet holes and realistic wounds. But what i want to see in HALO CE to have comical dynamic dismemberment like in BRUTAL DOOM. so like blowing them apart bit by bit. limbs blasting off, torsos turning to pulp, plasma weapons leaving big scorched holes. the effect in this mod being something like the effect of the plasma grenades direct hit maybe, but the bodies still probably shouldnt disappear completely
