Figured I had something make it past the cabin air filter on my 100 Series Land Cruiser since I could hear a slight clicking when running the A/C and heat.

I need to do the same, not for noise but to clean out the dust - you can smell it when you switch on the AC. GX spec 105's did not come with a cabin filter and I have read that not all 100's did either, you may not have one.

There's a filter in there and it was pretty dirty. I change it frequently but not frequently enough! I took it out during this service and banged it out too.

My ‘99 Cruiser a/c fan sounded like a 747 taking off on higher speeds. Followed this video and it had a LOT of debris. Cleaned, reinstalled and sounds like a kitten purring. Thanks!

@@thelandcruiserproject HAHA, leaves and a few light sticks... I was very surprised by the dust; it was tightly compacted onto the blades. Even though it appeared clean at a glance, it really wasn't when I first pulled it out. I used a little water and a toothbrush to clean the blades.

This was great - thanks for saving me a couple trips to the garage looking for the right Torx bit. Swapped out in ten minutes and now my AC blows how it's supposed to again (without a ton of vibration and noise). I'm curious if I can get the old motor/ fan separated without breaking stuff too badly and then repair- seems in generally good shape but the fan itself has quite a bit of vertical runout on the motor shaft and that's what was causing my issue. After 24yrs and 250k in the South it was just worn out. :p

At least Toyota designed their system to where you can access the Blower (and probably other components) fairly easily, unlike some manufacturers...caugh...Land Rover...I know.

thanks, way easy. 3 screws is as easy as it gets. My blower fan had play in the shaft and makes a big noise when it spins. Easy replacement though

* COMMENT-- Answering since you asked if anyone knew the answer: The cut on the lower left of your glove box tell-tale one made to clean/remove/replace the AC evaporator and/or the TXV valve connected to it. On the forums this is the only way to actually get out out of the tight fit. You do this if one day freon cans quickie job of getting your AC cool fails. Or if you have a dog and just want to get the accumulated fur and leaves out of your AC system. It will run cooler by allowing the AC to operate more efficiently. Same concept as having a filthy AC front condenser.

@@thelandcruiserproject yeah, just completely replaced the AC system: DENSO compressor, evaporator, TXV /expansion valve, 4 seasons condenser, all o-rings with Nylog, flush all hoses and AC lines, vacuum, test, freon. Done. 40 degree AC for years to come. A ton of work but worth it

Keep in mind its not a Philips drive. Its a t-25 torx, if i remember correctly, or an 8mm socket.

Thank you! I'm about to replace my blower fan with a new oem unit b/c of noise. One question, there is some water that leaks into my passenger footwell ('03 LC). I've checked the drain hose in the engine bay and it is not clogged and water comes out there too. Any more ideas for what may be causing this?

Does anyone know how to fix a misaligned glove compartment door? The hinges are in the right placė. Is this because of the warped plastic over time?
@thelandcruiserproject
@thelandcruiserproject 2 жыл бұрын
You could either replace the door or get a heat gun and heat it up and bend it back into shape.
