The R-Nine-T was very much on my shopping list when it was launched, only reason I didn't get one was because they offered me a disgustingly rubbish part exchange on my 2000 mile old Kawasaki ZX636R. Ace to see one join the Squadron :-) I look forward to seeing you guys do some camping trips, hopefully they will be a little drier than Wales was last year! :D I've not used an iron for around 8 years, I got some of those magic no iron shirts and trollies from Debenhams before they closed down when I left the Royal Navy, not sure what I am going to do when they wear out! :D Very interested to see how you get on with that tent, it looks cool as hell, although quite small. Canvas tents are great, but a little heavier than modern materials. Ace to see you out in the funshine mate! :-)

I'm very excited about it but not being delivered until May which I'm rather sad about... As it's free standing, I'm definitely going to test it out in the garden.. Wales was only wet on one afternoon. Lesson learnt about not taking waterproofs or spare gloves... I iron all of the clothes except underwear as it makes everything softer... Hopefully see you soon! Great to see you riding Good Sir! Hope to see much more this summer. I have both tents from Lone Rider. I use the larger tent for multiple day camping at a location and the ADV tent for camping on the fly. My sleeping system is always Big Agnes which is another fantastic gear company. I have the Lost Dog 15 degree system bag which integrates with my Big Agnes AXL Trail Boss sleeping pad. I also use sleeping bag liners to keep the bag clean. Big Agnes makes a tent very similar to the Lone Rider ADV tent called the Copper Spur. I have all the gear for motorcycle camping and touring this summer on my Tiger 1200 XCX! All my camping/sleeping gear fits in my right case. All my cooking, wood processing and chairs fit in the left case. My SW-Motech rear top bag holds my laptop and all my drone and camera gear I have 2 40L triumph dry bags for clean and dirty clothes lashed to the passenger seat. I have the SW-Motech ring mounted tank bag which never touches the tank and 2 8L dry bags that attach to my SW-Motech upper crash bars. These bags each hold 3 of my my 1L fuel bottles for my stoves/bike. Cheers Captain Sir Ed of Sandy Hook

Good to see you back vlogging Sir! Just getting my '74 Commando back in operation after a headgasket fail last Oct. Re. camping tent, I find a very compact 2 or 3 man, low cost tent suits me best. I can deploy/stow it in minutes. I use an inflatable air mattress that folds into a 4"x6" pouch....as I found the foam or other roll up types just didn't give me the support a good nights sleep...waking up in dead of night with lots of back pain! Found not having the mattress too solid really helps me here. Also, I'm finding the need for very warm sleeping bag now, so I'm using a -5 C rated bag, even in summer. Shivering in middle of night no fun. Yes it is the largest item I carry, but managed it all, plus stove, cooking gear, fuel, off-bike shoes/clothes, rain gear....on a cross Canada (5500+ km each way) trip I did back in '19 on the 2013 Steve McQueen Bonneville.
@CaptainRambunctious3 жыл бұрын
I have used an inflatable mattress but had to let almost all the air out... I'm looking forward to seeing what the Wingman mattress is like. The good thing is that you can remove it for something you like like even a cot... That sounds like quite the trip. Want to share any pics or video on the Squadron Facebook group? I didn't miss anything on the wales trip other than spare dry gloves and a waterproof cover for my leather jacket... Live and learn! :-) Happy Easter! Tally Bally Ho!

Great to see you back on our screens, you`ve been away too long. Re "canvas swelling when wet, it`s one of the main reasons why it`s used to cover the decks and cabin tops (coachroofs) in traditional boat building. I only found that out a week ago while watching "Tips from a shipwright" on youtube. Check him out, on one of his vids, the opening shot is him on his old cruiser, not sure if it`s an Indian or a Harley. I enjoyed that. Your Vlogs convinced me to buy the Triumph speed master especially when you mentioned your Height & leg measurements as they match mine. I've only had it a few weeks. Good to hear. Don't worry about scraping your pegs, they are designed to. They have blobs that wear down that are replaceable... They help you make sure you don't get anywhere near scraping your pipes... Use them like whiskers...

Nice R9T of Dave's. Mine's got the un-painted brushed aluminium tank as well except mine has what BMW call the 'visible weave' (a beautifully executed weld) front to back where the two halves of the tank join. I think it’s down to common sense. I always use a puck and even on ridiculously soggy ground in Wales it didn’t tip over. Could always use a larger piece of wood / slate / rock. Of course there’s that issue but I think if you’re sensible it’s not more dangerous than camping under a tree etc.

Move the bike just far enough from the tent so it would not land on it or park the bike in the other direction so that if it fell it would fall away from the tent.
