Thanks for the video on the Mammoth, nice to see them in action. They seem like unstoppable machines. Perfect for municipalities and school campuses, the ultimate solution for miles of sidewalks. A small fleet of these can easily replace an army of laborers. Keep up the excellent content, Stan!

These would be a nightmare on miles of sidewalks though I think they’d be good for schools like you said or apartment complexes, though you’d want an enclosed cab with heat for miles sidewalks ..

@@ecf6760 these do have the engine heat vents blowing on your legs. With how people dress who work out in cold weather, bit heat and wind block is all you need to keep warm.

@@DubhghlasMacDubhghlas I clear city sidewalks for a living and I’d hate life if I had to run one of these. Especially in the really heavy stuff that the road plow throws up onto the sidewalk. I run a small compact loader with a salter attached on the rear. In cab heating with suspension seat and radio. I couldn’t imagine standing up on one of these with the wind blowing on your back, snow blowing around, etc for 12 hours even 6 hours would be brutal.

Great content Stan. Well done sir. I live north of Michigan and the snow we have here is heavy and icy. Hydraulic blowers are very limited and are feeble .They are on the right track going pto drive and hydrostatic drive. (Years ago I built a sort of novelty v8 walk behind blower with similar attributes ) I would enjoy some friendly comparison to prove that if these are good, then more must be better! The need to remove high build up of snow and place it far away is a necessity when you have annual snow deposits of 25’ between structures. Safe travels.

One of the guys early in the video was talking about hydraulic efficiency. He said the best you can get is about 60% efficient with a hydraulic system. That may be true with low-end hydraulic components. But if you step up to high-end stuff like bent axial piston motors and pumps, (for example) you can get 90+ percent efficiency out of a system. However, those components are very expensive. So it's not that it CAN'T be done with a hydraulic system.... they're just trying to save some money. In this application there is nothing wrong with a PTO shaft so they made the right choice. Those look like great machines! Thanks for the video, Stan.

The problem with PTO driven machines is the repair costs when gear boxes and shafts start to go bad. Hydro has built in relief to prevent damage. Between that and the harder/longer attachment time- I’d rather have hydro
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikesmith-ek1il It's possible that a gear box could cost more than a standard hydraulic gear pump, or gear motor..... but probably not with the 90+ efficient stuff that I'm talking about. Depending on specific specs and brand, a bent axis piston drive motor... JUST a drive motor alone can cost anywhere between $3000 - $7000 and the bent axial piston pump on the other end of the circuit will cost just as much, and probably more. Sure, a large manufacturer is not going to pay full retail when they order thousand of these components but a machine with a high efficiency hydraulic system can easily price the machine right out of the market. Just my $0.02...

I loved the video and the machines. I was snow plow driver for the State in Illinois for 20 years. We used brine injected into the auger carrying the salt. We also had a spray trailer with 1000 gallons of brine that we would spray bridges with twice a week. We made or own brine and I was never really a big fan of it I usually would turn it off and run just salt never noticed a difference. Plus if your in a really cold place once it gets around 25 degrees the salt stops working. Anyway if you run those machines like you guys did be prepared for something to break or with salt something to corrode very quickly. Salt will find it's way into places you will never know until it's too late. And if you use salt on a parking lot your driving through all that melting salt every snow storm. Great video though very impressive product.

Information on the shear bolt / safety clutch on the snow blower. ease of service. Brooms worked out for us well at the schools leaving a nearly clean surface reducing the need for salt and the tracking of snow into the buildings. The blower is a necessity in heaver snow . The performance of the blower matches the forgone Gravely " snow cannons" of the 70,80 and 1990. Auger and fan speeds appear where they need to be.

The Air intake for the air filter, is what I would like to know if they have had any issues with, far as snow getting drawn in there and choking off the air and then stopping your motor. But what was the temps? Guys running well below zero were reporting running issues which also experienced with multiforce. Top of engine needs protection from elements, especially air inlet when using snowblowers or dealing with ND winds. Cold weather kits exist for a reason and toro and ariens ignored them.

They have heat from the engine directed at the hand controls at the top of the dash and your knee level or half way down the leg area then at the bottom that would hit your feet. Really good design for the thought that went into it. I know I wouldn't want my joints getting cold and I feel like that engine heat would do the trick with the wind screen from the blower attachment.

About the only real issue I could see, or rather hear, is they seem to be very noisy in operation - but that may be partially because there's no other background noise? Something like the sweeper may have more potential if there was a quieter/electric option so they could be used overnight clearing pavements and walkways in residential areas for people to use in the mornings? Oh, do any of these types of stand-on machines have heated foot plates? Things like boot-liners can go a long way to reducing cold feet and fatigue, but that chill must still get through at times.

I own one of these, not at all the best hand warmers. Your hands freeze when holding the anchor bars. Ventrac has hand warmers on the bars you anchor to as well

That is an impressive unit, (that's what she said) the brine and salt system is a must. Myself the blade and blower makes the most sense. push a pile and then blow it back.

What about a lawnmower with shaft attachment to be able to use the machine in summer time. I would use vplow with enclosure brine and salt spreader and the snowblower attachment that way my son could take the trailer with everything in it and free up a plow truck to do big accounts

Wouldn't the type of drive they have tear up the grass? Thought about it too but seems skid steer type drive ain't too grass friendly when turning.

If you could be Stan for a day in the winter time what would you want to do plow parking lots or test snow equipment

They all have their flaws. I’d say the bar you have to reposition on the v plow would make it a no for me. The last thing you want to be doing at night in the cold is messing around with that. The plow joystick control location looks a little awkward too. I’m guessing they’re working on a solution for these things.

The most important to me on a snow blower is not the first cut though the snow, but how fast and wide you can go without leaving spillage or cleanside bunny trails.. So the volume and speed it move snow out of the bucket.. The biggest mistake I see on blowers although the. Auger aerates the snow then they recompress the snow with too small of an chute opening causing clogging and freezing... Another factor for blower. Chutes is to be able to rotate it more than 180 degrees so you can direct snow at an angle backwards so your not blowing any snow toward a drive as you approach the cleaned drive or other area.

I like them , would build it with a v plow , broom attachment , add on the pump/ hose kit . Since we don’t get that much snow where I live.
