My husband retires the end of September. He decided with his bonus he gets from his company he is going to get the equipment needed for metal detecting. He is so excited. He has always wanted to do this. I have him hooked on your site. We live in Upstate NY, the Adirondacks. I suggested maybe he message you for tips etc. He wants to respect others and do this properly. And thank you again for your videos. ❤

Sorry for such a late response. It's hard to keep up at times and unfortunately, this one fell through the cracks. I think that's great that your husband is considering getting into the hobby. It's a great pastime and you all live in a great part of the country to do it in. Feel free to shoot me questions if needed and I wish you both the best of luck out there! ATB GReg

Hey Greg, nice video. I found a QM pin and my research pointed me to it being U.S.ARMY. QM Insignia first authorized in 1896. I believe. Thanks for the History you share with all of us detectorists.

"Not precious", but was once precious to someone.---That duckling photo was a great find!---I remember our first trip to Yellowstone, we really did see the bears along the roadside. We were supposed to camp at the campground, which was full by darktime, & Mom was so worried that we'd have bears wandering through the campsite that my Dad had to keep driving through the park & we slept in the car on the roadside.---We don't often hear you say "I don't know" & that flared bullet had you repeat that phrase quite a few times! And stumbling for words at the end...kool!

Great story about Yellowstone and thanks for sharing that one Alana! I always love a find that has me stumped so I can do the research later. Next time I find one, I will know exactly what is! On Christmas Day I bet nobody had a clue on how much of a hit that detector was going to turn out to be. X amount of years later and it's more enjoyable then the first week when it was brand new and you were mad at digging all of those pull tabs. At least for me it was like that. After a week I almost lost interest from digging foil and bottle caps until my father had off work and he took me to a real "historic" site where he brought his detector also and I dug my first silver coin and a Rev War musket ball on his friends old farm. Today that once private piece of land is part of Monmouth Battlefield Historic Park where the Patriots almost caught the British retreating towards Sandy Hook after Washington chased them out of Trenton on X-mas. OMG if we had detectors of today back in the late 70's I think we would be curators of the biggest privately owned Rev War and Colonial life artifact collection. It's 45 years later and we still find these buttons, musket balls and coins from that time in history through out NJ. But that farm was a site of battles and camps on both sides at different points in time through the war and the area around wasn't developed with homes and roads yet as it is today. Thanks for the video and memories

Dont remember the name BUT, put a ball into a tarp, push through the big part. Then slide it to the thin part. now you have a tie-down. It can go anywhere ! No holes needed on the tarp / tent.

Another great video. I used the equinox 800 for 4 years and loved it. Then i upgraded to a deus 2... Every site ive hunted is brand new again. Id love to see a video of you taking the deus 2 to these sites you hunt... Something to think about 😎
@FindingAmerica Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed this one Luke. The Deus 2 is an excellent machine and I'm glad you enjoy using it on your old sites. Without addressing all the factors involved that influence whether a target is recovered or not including user skill, swing pattern, soil conditions, etc., I will say that any time you take a different machine on an old site you will find things that you have missed before. Different manufacturers and their machines are put together and programmed differently and may operate on different frequencies or different combinations of multi-frequencies than the machine you were using before. Even someone with a Legend following someone using a Deus II will find things that person missed. It's been that way since I first started detecting over 40 years ago.
