The blown head gasket test kit will work on any make or model, is cheap and easy to use, and is reliable. The head gasket typically seals the engine block to the cylinder heads, but with a leak, the exhaust gasses created in the cylinders can leak into the cooling channels.
Typical symptoms of this are:
Loss of coolant over time with no notable leaks
White Exhaust
Seeing bubbles in the cooling system
Milky substance in engine oil
Overheating
Engine misfiring
Usually the head gasket will be damaged in the event the engine over heats, this may cause the engine block to warp and no longer seat perfectly with the cylinder heads.
There are many ways to test for a blown head gasket, but the block tester method is sensitive, reproducible, and cheap. If the blue tester fluid runs out, you can always run the test using plain water and just look for bubbles being created, this is less sensitive but will work for significant leaks.
