Alice in Chains has always ruined me. The music was so deep and emotionally charged I had a hard time connecting with it even though it moved me back in the 90s. It took me down deep almost depressed to me and at the same time my younger brother was heavily addicted to drugs so it has added a lot to that feeling for me. He was heavily into Alice in Chains so I think that affected me as well because their music was so connected to drugs that he used to listen to it so much that it was just too much for me to play even though I was touched by the music. So whatever I hear this music it just takes me back and it just fills me up with so much from back that I can only take it for so long I have to walk away from it. Also the fact that the singer died from a drug overdose it's just wears me out. By the way, my brother made it out alive and it was a miracle and he was heavily into heroin at the time along with many other drugs. Having almost died a few times. He's now a very robust 43 year old man, 6-5 230. What's a daughter and a girlfriend and her children in the home that he bought and has a good job and has been alcohol and drug free now for I believe 10 years. Congrats you bro I love you and talk to you soon. ( He learned how to play the music on guitar and can play a lot of these songs. He sings along with it too and has played on Facebook as well.)

Layne, Chris, Scott, Kurt, Andy.... the list is endless of fallen musicians and singers that left us. The late 80s early 90s music scene from Seattle was my "Camelot"..... I'm 54... these guys were my peers, and without question perhaps the greatest time in music history. These guys were not only contemporaries, but close friends that encouraged one anothers success in the industry. They were like a band of cool dark angels roaming the planet, burying one another along the way....I wish I could turn the clock back to 1989 to warn them of the dangers ahead.... but I can't..... so instead I'll thank them in words by saying..... through your music you all unknowingly saved so many lives, including mine..... I'll always be grateful....... thanks for the vid..... very well done my friend.

I don't think he's underrated at all. He gets his credit for his music. It's just his music and style of playing guitar is kinda dark and not really the mainstream of radio airplay although it has its fair share of top 40 songs. He's one of my favs cause of the lack of high speed solos. If I wanna hear lightning fast guitar I'll pop in some yngwie malmsteen. Their mellow stuff is mellow...and their harder stuff is hard. But not too hard. Cantrell has paid his dues in the rock world.

Rhabdo B if you understand anything about depression you’d know that being able to connect with a musician through your own interpretation of a song makes you feel less isolated as you share a common struggle with another human and likely a larger group of humans. The expression of the difficulty of the human condition through art is one of the most uplifting, uniting aspects of humanity for those who can understand it.
