@@joebroart it can be done pretty cheap, but will need some work. You can get upgraded clutches for it and maybe a few other parts, along with a j-mod. The bolt pattern from a v6 sn95/new edge will work with a 302/351w. The spendy part comes when you have to buy a stand-alone controller. That's about $1k(ish) for everything, last I checked. A cheaper option is a shift kit that converts the oem valve body to a manual valve body. They were around $250 I believe. Not sure on the availability of these parts, since it's been a couple yrs since I researched it.

So T-5 all the way!! I just bought a 500 horse T-5 from Pro Motion Powertrain for $2,650. And I don't have to buy a bellhousing, clutch, or nothing. Just literately bolt it in and haul ass. Haha!!

Funny you posted this video bc I’ve been going back and forth on what trans I’m going to run on my coyote swap. Just wanted to clear up one thing you said: You said you can run a 4.56 gear behind a t56 but the cobra t56 that you mentioned has a .63 6th gear which is the same ratio as the 3650 and z-spec t5 have for 5th so cruising rpm would be the same. The cobra t56 has a longer 1st gear(2.66) and the extra ratio for acceleration(5th) before hitting overdrive. The magnum t56 has a taller .50 6th gear ratio available though that would lower cruising rpms and has a shorter 1st gear(2.97) for acceleration. I’m leaning toward a Hanlon 3650 with a McLeod RST dual disk clutch. When you drove calebs red car did it shift like butter bc you were straight up bangin gears. Not quite as good as 5.0tussin but real close haha. Keep the vids coming brother
@midnight3473 жыл бұрын
You are correct but that lower 5th gear makes running higher speeds with a low gear easier but yea crusing rpm wouldnt change much if any (t5 are like .68 or something).

This is straight from google. Turn the wheel TWO revolutions and count the number of driveshaft turns. The number of driveshaft rotations will help you determine your rear axle ratio. For example, if it turned 3 and a half times, it's a 3.50:1 ratio. If it turned 4 and a quarter times, it's a 4.25:1 ratio.

I had a tremec 3550 behind my 550hp 347. I had a stock pile of t5 transmissions and parts I loved how they shifted but they blew up so fast. The tremec I had never blew up it was a little notchy going into 3rd but never missed gears. People like to spend money on All these different shifters but what worked the best for me was just a cheap shift arm. As far as automatic goes I would put a 4l60 in

Dude, when you gonna go the 5 lug route? Waiting for some 94/95 spindles?

I have a t56 for my chevelle however if I break it I think I might try that tkx. Something about building a motor that turns some rpms with a deep gear and a manual trans.

I call bull on AOD's not being a good track transmission I have one that was in my 95 behind a 351w AFR head holley efi 76mm billet wheel turbo making 10lbs on low boost granted, mine was built by camerons torque converter service with a c6 3500 stall converter, c6 hardened input shaft, c6 pump, upgraded freddy brown manual valve body with pro trans brake, upgraded sunshell and 3.73 rear gears it is the best transmission I've ever had, raced or driven especially since it had OD for highway cruising and plenty strong to hold WELL over 1000hp

So a tr3650 will bolt up to an old 5.0L????
@jodeycampbell2403 жыл бұрын
What's your take on on the T56 with 4:10 gears on the street..of course "allegedly " it might do some back road cash days racing but do you think it would be streetable occasionally?
@shanebatten64733 жыл бұрын
4.10’s is nothing on the street with an overdrive trans unless you drive over 80mph all the time on the highway. It can get old quick then

Hanlon built TR3650 here.

@@shanebatten6473 It’s been really good to me. Definitely happy with it! Hit them up, Bob’s a super cool dude and really knows his stuff. He’s been in the stickshift world since I could remember. And that’s going back to teen years.
@turbinatorlou3 жыл бұрын
@@shanebatten6473 Same as everyone else with the T5. Then I went with a pro shifted tr3550 which was a bad ass trans and the 3650. The 3650 can be built to hold some really good power. Check out this article it may help you a little more.

I have a ol srod 4 speed in my 82 5.0, I like it, just don’t think it’ll hold a lot of power
