I always thought if there was another company and competition, middle class could afford a FD. As of now, I think there are 4 companies that sell them and if nothing else, they’re even more out of reach for “Joe middle class”. Just my 2cents worth.

I know for high dollar items like this I like an “extended warranty” option. It’s worth the extra money for extra peace of mind. Thanks for sharing this and showing us this unit.
@lyndabuchholz12168 күн бұрын
That is one of my complaints. I can only run mine when I have good clear skies for 2 or 3 days in a row because my home is run on solar power so I never get a full years of use so a one year warranty isn't very impressive to me.

Thank you for this interesting review. My one recommendation for this new product, would be to add an internal digital scale so that we can see the weight reduction of the trays. This allows us to avoid having to open the system, since we can assume it is done when the scale stops losing weight. Love the easy to repair mentality. Question about the warranty, so if I use it every day starting on day 1 for 3 months, skip 6 months, and then everyday for another 3 months, is that essentially half of a year of use? Thanks for the cool review.

I see they have a payment plan. Mine has saved me a lot of money because I freeze dry my leftovers from my meals so then they don't spoil in the back of my fridge or freezer burn in the freezer and all I have to do is add hot water and I have a great meal later on. I own a different brand and wish I had seen this one before I bought mine.

I understand getting a qualified service technician can be an issue for all brands of freeze dryers. What happens if there is a quick power outage in the middle of the night when you’re running a longer cycle. If you don’t notice the power outage do you wake up to spoiled food. Are there safety features/alarms to notify you that something has gone wrong. I’ve been questioning freeze dryer owners about issues and most find they have to do the servicing themselves because trained technicians are not available in the area and shipping the unit to the technician or manufacturer is far too expensive. I believe there are at least four different US made freeze dryer manufacturers. The prices haven’t come down yet even with the competition.

As someone who grew up in the world of the refrigeration mechanic during the 1950's, the 1960's, and the 1970's, I don't believe, at least with current levels of technoloy, and even if those technologies were to become hyper-advanced across the next several decades, that home consumer scaled freeze dryers will ever be as uncomplicated, as maintenance free, or as inexpensive as have become home scaled consumer refrigerators and freezers. The vacuum pump is the key component to this equation. The specific physical tasks that a home scaled freeze dryer is asking the vacuum pump to accomplish on a 24/7/365 basis, which is the *ONLY* fair and equitable way to compare a home scaled freeze dryer against a home consumer scaled refrigerator or a freezer, which is to say, being *constantly* used on an around-the-clock basis every single day of the year; pretty much eliminates the phrase *maintenance free* from that type of comparison. *All of the above being said, I agree with everyone else that multiple competitors in the home consumer scaled freeze drying marketplace is the only way to drive freeze drying innovation forward and to hopefully reduce the initial price of a freeze dryer.*

Really like the standard size tray! They seem awfully close, like does lasagna even fit? What is the actual max food height, in inches please. That suggestion for a scale is a "why didn't I think of that!" How much babysitting does it need? My HR original only needed a couple double punches, but when it needed work the "improved" program needs twenty minutes of babysitting to start a load! Loved it...til that. And, since it's the newer program, decided to start shopping. You're on the list. Besides, my food room is...blue! Lol

I have an HR and it was great till things needed repaired or replaced. Their support wasn't there since mine was a 2017 model and the parts just plain weren't there either so I had no way to fix it! The trays are very close together. It kind of helps eliminate the temptation to overfill the trays and regret it later. LOL! This might be an issue with some kinds of candy but I haven't found it to be a problem with the things that I freeze dry.
