Blue and Gold Macaw Parrot Chainsaw Carving by Kyra Waits

Hello friends! In this video I carve a Blue and Gold Macaw out of a nice piece of fallen pine from right here in Arizona! If you’ve watched me for a while, you know I love carving parrots and birds of all kinds. Plus I’m a fan of the bright colors!

I like the sculpting part the best! But i do always enjoy the feeling of finishing something! I too enjoy people saying nice things to me about my work. But I'm actually super shy so i have to force myself to accept the compliments on a regular basis. xD I'm always a work in progress.

Wow, Awesome work! What are the tools you use for your wood sculptures? I see a chainsaw, an angle grinder (with a wood sanding bit?), a router? and a blow torch? I have some wooden fence post that I want to carve and I am curious what tools to use.

Close! Yeah I primarily use chainsaw, angle grinder, and a die grinder (the thing that looks like a large dremel) 🙂 the torch is super handy for so many things. And if I want to do small detail work/sign my bigger pieces, I use a small dremel tool. Those will pretty much get whatever you want done 🙂
