Just received my cedar eagle whistle. That thing is loud and keeps the crows away!

I love the slant/ramp (no f word that rhymes with nipple!) solution I see over on the cardinal call. It looks like a hole that, instead of ramping it with the burn tool, it was held up against a cylindrical sander with the hole offset to one side a bit - bam - instant ramp, and looks nice, too!

Hey, I'm American and I like metric measurements! Millimeters are just easier to work with when dealing with small parts, but I do consider myself bilingual with measurements.

24:40 or so: Did anybody hear the bird outside responding? Probably a frantic call for brother birds to duck and cover!

Thank you. Nice tutorial. I figure I'll give it a try.

Hello Blue Bear, My husband bought a couple of flutes from you and Incredible work you do. I enjoy making your bird whistles. 1 question for you about the single-chamber whistle, is the end of the whistle blocked off with a plug or is it open?
@coloradolove79576 жыл бұрын
Awesome. Video. Can you do one on how to make the 3 chamber?
@BlueBearFlutes6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I will try and get that one down.

Gosh wish I were special enough for you to give me one

The problem is that there are so many special people in the world. Plus I give the knowledge away for how to make them yourself. You know, you could always use my video and learn to make them, then you can give them away to all the special people in the world!

I realize this video is 8 years old so I might not get a response. Everytime I add a second hole to my whistles the stop working and I have to plug them. What am I doing wrong?
@BlueBearFlutes Жыл бұрын
What you may not realize is that on my channel I have hundreds of videos and some posted just a couple of days ago. Likewise, I have a video about your specific question. Let me know if you have any others! Thanks for watching!

Imperial measurement, (inches etc.) May have spread by the now defunct British Empire, but was only one of many mathematical systems. When I was teaching adults metric back in 1978, My research into it showed the Romans had a base 10 system that worked very well. Here in the UK I am glad we have lost such measurements as the ell, furlong, chain, dram, etc etc. Yet we still retain the mile, gallon and pint (20 fl oz UK not 16 fl oz US..)

Are the tubes hollow? I'm trying to make one but get no sound unless I hold my finger over the end. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I made a couple and am getting the same results so at least I'm consistent!
@BlueBearFlutes5 жыл бұрын
Great question Shawn! They are Hollow however they are stopped off at one end. The measurements I give for the depth is how deep they are before they touch the plug.
@shawnort5 жыл бұрын
@@BlueBearFlutes Thanks for replying. Is that the plug with the ramp on the mouthpiece end? I have one but I'm thinking it might leak some. Maybe that would cause the problem I'm having. Will try again tonight.
@BlueBearFlutes5 жыл бұрын
@@shawnort actually, the end opposite the slanted piece is sealed off completely.
@shawnort5 жыл бұрын
@@BlueBearFlutes Thank you! I'm so close now. With the only finger hole covered it works. I think when I uncover the finger hole I should get a whistle but I get nothing. Any ideas why? Truly appreciate the help.
@shawnort5 жыл бұрын
I think I'm uncovering the hole too much. As I watch your video you just uncover the hole slightly which controls how much air comes out of it instead of lifting your finger off the hole entirely.
