As an immigrant myself and son of immigrant parents, Jaime Reyes character resonated a lot with my upbringings and struggles. The movie did a fantastic job with the references that not many would understand yet still kept everyone intrigued. El chapulín colorado was not mentioned in your review and he definitely deserves credit for being a huge Latino superhero. Overall one of the best DC movies thus far.

Batman is a fascist, He built the Brother eye to check on every metahuman on earth, that is a part of the Infinite Crisis comic, the first appearance of Jaime Reyes, one of the comics they were promoting as suggested reading at the end of the blue beetle trailers

i thought blue beetle looked fantastic, some CGI (wasnt bad but couldve been better like the final Carapax suit), that being said, this movie should tell Gunn and all of Hollywood that they dont need to spend more than 150 million (200 at most on bigger ensemble movies) to make great looking, still plenty of CGI movies

I think the official breakdown should be made by a latino. There are sooo many easter eggs honoring our culture. This movie carries places from my childhood and adulthood to hollywood and thats just my nostalgic point of view. It surpassed my expectations and has plenty of references from my fav superhero films like iron man shangchi among others.

Think this movie suffered from the strike. This movie deserves the kind of treatment black panther got but from the Hispanic community. As a Mexican American I loved this movie. My kids absolutely loved this movie and the fact they had someone like them speaking Spanish and saying things they have heard of really got them hyped. For sure their new favorite hero.

Idk this was a beetle while venom was a symbiotic parasite that ca detach from Eddy Ashe sees fit. With Blue Beetle, it’s attached to Jaime for life as he would have to die for that thing I get outta him. So idk I felt truly bad for Jaime bcus of this so didn’t remind me of Venom lol

Just wanted to stop by and say I appreciate your guys' open-mindedness and consideration towards others when reviewing this movie. Certain other channels have said really nasty and ignorant things, not only about the movie but about Mexican and Latino people, under the guise of a "review." It was really nice that Brandon acknowledged that even though many of the songs played weren't familiar to him, that he could see how they would be sentimental for other viewers. I also really appreciated Evan including commentary on Elon Musky's SpaceX and how it's affecting communities in Texas.

This was the BEST DC movie ever made. I mean, it had its crappy moments, but not as bad as all the other previous movies/series. It was by far the most entertaining n closest adaptation to the real character that any DC media has made. It had me balling, screaming, n LMAO from beginning to end. Hopefully, we will get more of Jaime n Khaji Da. Tho, I do have a question. When did Jaime learn the Scarabs name, idr seeing the part of the movie when he was told, but halfway thru, he just randomly started calling it "Khaji" out of nowhere.

very niche and possibly obscure comparison, but the aesthetic of palmera really reminded me of master detective archives: rain code (a video game made by spike chunsoft). the city in that game, kanai ward, is run by a futuristic corporation (amaterasu corp) which has caused parts of it to fall into slum and ruin. just seeing the city skyline from the reyes' house made me instantly think of that haha. the plot is very different (the game is extremely weird and camp) but the aesthetic is so similar.
