Why use this material instead of pitch or something like cerrobend?

Both are certainly an option. I've used pitch for 15 years and I'm very familiar with it's positives and many negatives. I started this project because I was concerned that the pitch I was melting in the garage was producing fumes and smoke that were contributing to my daughters allergies. I was never a fan of cerrobend, I wasn't able to get bends tight enough and felt like they always came out looking goofy. Plus, you just can't beat water cleanup...
