@johnschwarzkopf7 жыл бұрын
'They' absolutely do make music like this today, you just chose to stop seeking it out. You're doing a disservice to all the great musicians today if you let top 40 represent "today's music." Hell, most of the year-end Billboard top 100 chart toppers of 1976 are completely forgettable and objectively bad (with the exception of Silly Love Songs...). It's silly and myopic to believe that, after 200,000 years of human history, the pinnacle of human musical achievement happened in 1976.

Well it is clear here than Linda was NOT a Yoko leech. Never noticed what wonderful harmonies she puts into this. So what is it now? Paul has written 500+ songs in all possible styles and voice ranges.. But JOHN was the man ......? "The working class hero" with the beret and the white Rolls . Like John would have said "it is just a BLOODY song" Same with "Imagine" . It is a FOOKING song nothing deep about it , I just wanted to write me a swimming pool" I wonder when John STOPPED loving what he did and became a anything for money embarrassment. Perhpas when Paul became a an artist for the ages and lennon could not aspire to that.

Nope! It's Thaddeus Richard (aka Pete Richard and a few others). At 5:12, McCartney says, "Take it away, Thaddeus!" I met Pete when he was sitting in with an LA funk band I was in, around 1980. We became pretty good friends, and he played soprano sax on an artist demo of mine soon after. Two takes, and that was all I needed, he was that good. You can hear the difference in the mic proximity during his solo, but both takes were flawless. Here's my demo - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZqTZpx8etNna6c Here's his discography. www.discogs.com/artist/712607-Thaddeus-Richard

At 5:12, McCartney says, "Take it away, Thaddeus!" ...Yep...on a clarinet.
@scottdouglasmaclachlan47926 жыл бұрын
I'd beg to politely differ, Paul. The poster of this video noted in a comment some 6 years ago, "Wings brass section in 1976:Tony Dorse -Trombone ,Howie Casey- Alto Sax, Thaddeus Richard -Soprano Sax & Steve Howard-Trumpet." Clarinet was my first instrument, and they're typically made from several types of African blackwood ebony (woodwinds), vs. soprano saxes, which are obviously in the brass family. The clarinet and soprano sax sound very much alike, but the wood of the clarinet has a slightly warmer tone. Not so oddly, Pete's/Thaddeus's credited as playing both the clarinet and saxophone, but going off what sure looks like brass to me, I'd call it a soprano sax. Apologies, if I'm coming off as *mister always right guy*, but he's a natural soloist, with some great chops. :)
