And, as far as top 8 challenges go (since the beginning of 2018), the boros monarch deck is paired with mono blue delver in second/third place, behind skred delver and right before Tireless combo... Waaaaay above UB decks (that pair with stompy, Tron and elves). So, yeah, big burn there

The deck has tons of card advantage, efficient threats and the best removal/burn in the format. Something tells me if it had blue in it LSV would love it. :)

I've been playing that deck since 2016, but never wanted to buy the monarch cards so I've been running Custodi squire instead which does essentially the same thing. When he said that I lol'd because the decks absurb

Getting a one time card recursion is not even close to being the monarch. You automatically get at least one card draw at your end step, play a 2/4 body that's hard to attack through, and you opponent has to answer your card advantage engine or you just win due to attrition and winning the numbers game. This isn't to say that Squire is a bad card, but monarch is unbelievably good in pauper. There's a reason Death and Taxes in Legacy, of all formats, plays Palace Jailer in it's 60, sometimes 2 in the 75.

I think Luxa River Shrine is bad. I would use Pristine Talisman instead, you can gain life without spending mana and it ramps for the same cost.

I really love cards like Recoil,because if your opponent is empty handed it basically says "Destroy target permanent".Dimir Vindicate/Beast Within without a drawback.

My favorite version is the one with Teachings that runs 0 creatures with its wincons being literally just 1 Curse of The Bloody Tome, 1 Capsize and your opponent conceding to empty board (the last one happens most of the time, even at 4-0 in league games).

Funny thing but Boros is the second best deck in the meta right now, only Izzet Delver has better win %. Both decks are tempo/control decks that can draw a lot of cards very quickly and are very consistent

Is Think Twice better than Accumulated Knowledge in combo with the familiars? You get double the mileage out of the casting cost discount with TT, since it applies to both the initial casting and the flashback. It also benefits more in the cases when you have two familiars in play. And the deck seems unlikely to ever get all four AKs, which is the only case where you gain more total card advantage from AK over the course of the game.

Can I see this mythic only "Prince" format? Sounds strange since you only get all the sets since they introduced mythics. The pool would be smaller then you expect, but also there are lots of strange effects at mythic, and a lot of useful effects that are rarely at mythic.

Yeah, but unlike most other UB control decks, you're not recurring Ghostly Flickers or casting a ton of blue spells every turn. You also have a lot of discard spells, meaning that Guardian Idol could start attacking after you've cleaned their hand out. And let's be honest, how often are you going to regenerate the Familiars through Justice?
