Love it! piece of advice, if you'll have it. Realize that your age means nothing. So do not feel discouraged if someone got started in the the trade at a younger age then you. Just go in with a positive mindset, and give the best you possibly can each day and try to learn as fast and as best you can. If you do that, I promise you that things can get better then you ever expected!

Dito, I’m also 32 and 6 months in the trade. I got a bachelors in business mgt. Worked 5 years chained to a desk. Screw being a desk jockey with keyboard fingers. I’ll take pullng romex ANY day over the high school drama. No fresh air and if 1 person gets sick, pretty much everyone got sick. Just sit all day, eat and get fat. I sleep so much better now, and totally don’t need adderall anymore.

I didn't see them mentioned, but Lineman's pliers are a must have. The Klein 11-in-1 screwdriver is also a must have. When you can carry tools with multiple functions and eliminate one or more things to carry in your bags the better in my opinion. As far as bags go, Occidental makes great bags, but they are rather expensive. Their suspendavest line is great and places no weight on your hips. I recommend them highly if you have any lower back issues. One last thing, don't use WD-40 on tools for rust, use a penetrating oil which will actually lubricate the joints. WD-40 was not designed to be a lubricant, it was designed to displace water.

I honestly have never used a pair of lineman pliers in my entire career. Ive had a pair in my truck, but never had a use for them. Although I know some people swear by them. Also never liked the multi tip screw drivers. But to each their own.

@@lukecmarcotte Lineman's work well for twisting multiple solid wires together prior to putting on wire nuts if you're doing residential work. I work mainly commercial, but they are great for removing knockouts in metal boxes or panels, first hammering to loosen, then grabbing and pulling out the remaining pieces. The multi-bit drivers are good to put in your pocket if you're crawling through an attic or not carrying your bags. They just provide multiple options without taking up much space. That being said, I still carry multiple drivers in my bags everyday. It's all a matter of preference

Klein will only replace screwdrivers if you haven’t used it to beat on. So if the end looks like it’s been whacked by a hammer or linesman’s... sol, buy an el cheapo as your beater.

Tekton is a great brand for non-insulated screwdrivers, super cheap and made in USA plus an all-the-time warranty. They cater to mechanics, but screwdrivers are universal tools.

Their pliers are great too. They’re rebranded Wilde, but it comes with that awesome warranty plus 10% off if you purchase through the Tekton website.
