Probably someone else has commented on this but here goes. When you boil crabs, you cool them down in the pot and let them soak for 15 to 20 minutes to let them absorb flavor and moisture. The corn is added at the end to help with the cool down, the residual heat will cook it Ice can be added to help the crab stop cooking won't dilute the flavor. And you guys are right a lot of spice is wasted in a boil up.☺

Here in Rosedale, MD, I live on a tributary off of the Chesapeake Bay. If we are going to use chicken, we get the cheapest chicken you can get. Chicken necks! We steam our crabs whole. And we eat all the innards! There is nothing like getting crabs packed full of their yellow mustard. The great thing about really big crabs is you can get and eat the sweet and juicy leg meat!

We started cleaning our crabs years ago when we lived in New Jersey the waters we lived around got so polluted the State recommended cleaning the crabs because most of the toxins were in the innards, before that when I worked on a commercial fishing boat I'd set a couple of traps around the docks and actually got sick from eating the whole crab now it's just a habit.

All other things being equal, you’ll almost always catch more crabs with fish bait than chicken. Also, September is one of the best times to be crabbing, they’re more numerous and larger.

Hi nice catch they way I do it I put a bag of ice all over them on way home it stunes them makes them easier to clean won't pinch you top pops of easier then out side use your garden hose with a spray gun you can wash the guts out much faster and easier
@TheOldCoupleOutdoors
@TheOldCoupleOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
We use ice sometimes on short trips, but when we want to keep them alive for a longer time we wet a burlap bag and cover them, we've kept them alive for 40 hrs that way with no losses. Using the hose is a good idea. Thanks a lot for Watching
@SaltyReflections
@SaltyReflections 3 жыл бұрын
Try using a water hose with a nozzle on it that creates good pressure to clean the guts out. It works great!

We have an inshore and an offshore boat, I can't operate either of them. He maintains the boats, cleans the boats after fishing,, he takes most of the videos and edits them, all boat problems are his and there's a lot of them, he offers to do it all set bait and set traps and he could but then what would I do and more than that I enjoy working it makes me feel young. Thanks a lot for Watching we appreciate it.
