Dominick Guerra playing tenors is not about your peripheral view of your hands, you should know where the playing zones are. Also you should be looking at the DM, which in my case while marching, I was looking up.

Is it just me or does 13:23 sound really dirty? Especially for finals week
@tstew2585 жыл бұрын
I see what you're saying, but I actually think it has a lot more to do with the tuning of the drums and the geography than the snares actually not playing together. It sounds grey because those drums are tuned to have a rather deep throaty sound when played in the center, but part of the drawback of that tuning is that anything beyond the center sounds very open and (in my opinion) muddy... especially with snares on.

Systemblue7 what makes someone center worthy?
@FTTPRO7 жыл бұрын
It's mostly a leadership position. Positive attitude and a coaching mentality that can motivate a group as well as be a constant example and role model for their peers. A "Center" Snare tends to be the line of communication between the line, the techs, and the corps' directors. Among being a leader, a Center Snare position holds the responsibility of communicating the drumline's needs as well as communicating the corps needs back to the line while maintaining great skills and work life balance. High Moral and ethic is considered a quality a Center Snare will possess. When snare players tend to be more egotistical, a Center will want to be more level headed and clear minded to make the best decisions possible when needed. Going above and beyond the fundamental values of a Drumline's member.

They watered this down so much from the original book, not to mention the writing is gotten in a rut the last couple years. Compare to SCV or BC's and its nowhere even close in technicality.
@jadenmccallum178 жыл бұрын
Except technically this is the hardest book out there, honestly. It doesn't look near as complicated on paper as SCV or Bluecoats but It has way more technically difficult stuff. And the technique of the line is the most consistent across the board of any other line. I can't imagine how hard it is to memorize this book, and I also can't imagine how long they had to work on the staggered entrance bit to get that clean. It has to be near impossible to get all 18 battery members to come into their individual entrance in time and clean in the middle of that patternless segment. But to each their own.
@sixty9fordkiller8 жыл бұрын
i thought the book was as difficult as ive seen in a while. I was very impressed overall but @15:23 was what I really liked. Its simple and easy to play BUT those single patterns alternating off the right hand lead then left hand lead are difficult to execute cleanly as a line. Its a very exposed lick for the snares and they freakin owned it.
@jadenmccallum178 жыл бұрын
Exactly, the thing this line does best is management of space. This book contrasts super fast rams with super open segments and they own both. It's crazy.
