This show is so freaking beautiful. And emotional. As long as Netflix drops quality shows like this, I'll keep streaming.

If only they would stop canceling the good ones :/

@@calebtoles3819 After Netflix released the numbers I'm not even sure what to think. Their most streamed stuff is basic ass bullshit, not amazing shows like this. idk how the numbers work out for them.

Both Arcane and Blue Eye Samurai were animated by studios in France! France is turning into an animation powerhouse!
@mdd429611 ай бұрын
Always has been. They just didnt have as much mass appeal as the us or japan's. The animation styles used in arcane and this series has been used in prolific projects in france for quite a while already.

"All metal wants to be a sword!" A sword is one of the things that takes true skill to create in a blacksmith. A core of soft and flexible iron, with an edge of rigid and sharp steel. Combining the 2, and making them strengthen each other without ruining the total work is a true mastery of the art of metalworking. Hence, why all metal wants to be a sword.

This show is stunning. And I loved watching your faces as you reacted to every nuance of it: the gorgeous artwork, the violent, terrifying yet beautifully executed fight scenes, even the subtle interactions between the characters. To be honest, I’ve never seen another anime ever and never even liked regular animation when I saw it. But Blue Eye Samurai knocked me over the head and carried me away. The goal of my life right now is to see that it gets a second (and third and fourth . . ) season. Who’s with me?

I'm so glad you guys are watching this!!! You're the first people to watch it on YT that I've seen who get all the references and have apt things to compare it to (so hyped when I heard 'kenshin!!!!' haha. That's what I thought of too immediately when I watched it). I also appreciate that you guys used 'they' pronouns for Mizu. The showrunners have said Mizu's gender is Mizu :)
@samankucher511710 ай бұрын
26:05 in japan people (both genders) using prostitution was not considered cheating ... even today it is not considered cheating .

Excellent catch on Takei's voice!
@dungeonmaster1611 ай бұрын
voice for taigen the actor is fairly new but some ppl are saying his voice would be an ideal zuko in his 20s/30s. on voices there is good amount here. ringo is voiced by masi oka who is hiro in heroes series. the swordsmith is cary hiroyuki tagawa who plays shang tsung in the 90s mortal kombat movie and voiced him in mk11. brenda song (from suite lifeo f zack and cody, other voices is ann boonchuy in amphibia) is princess akemi and yeah her advisor is george takei. randall park (the father in fresh off the boat and the agent in antman and wandavision) is the one making deal with fowler he is voiced by kenneth branagh who plays the character with the same name in the agatha christie mystery films. there is another major actor in here but wont say their name till you hear their character.
@dungeonmaster1611 ай бұрын
some interesting notes: kenneth is in here due to the writher of blue eye samurai does the script for the agatha murder mystery films. so connections wise he was able to get him in the show.

It was gory, it was graphic...it was also beautiful. Sad too. I loved the story even though I don't normally go for gory and sexually graphic. I don't mind it, but I never go out of my way to find stories like it. The graphic nature and gore...I'm fine with it so long as there was a purpose and not just a slasher movie just for the gore's sake...same with the graphic sex. The nudity was a surprise to me too. Mizu is badass and sad. She looks like she needs someone to believe in her and let her know she's not a born monster. I hope later in the next season someone will help her realize that. This is not the first review I've seen of Blue Eye Samurai. I don't understand why most of them are done by men! Not complaining, but I also wanted the female...or at least female-ish perspective too. I was laughing for days off and on about that "peaches" comment! Did you catch the bit about the squeaky floor? That's actually a kind of home security system. You can't be sneaky on a floor that will sing out like a nightingale...I forgot the full name for that floor design...nightingale something. I saw part of a documentary about ninjas and that was one of the things I picked up. The forge is accurate too. Saw part of a documentary about that too. Nobody tapped anyone with a set of tongs on the head though. I haven't seen either documentary for a long time, I forgot about them until this series reminded me of it.

As soon as I heard the voice, I was reminded of Richard III from Requiem of the Rose King. I think maybe it was the same voice actress. I just didn't think he was a man and was not surprised by the end. There were units of female samurai in Japan and there are at least 3 famous, female samurai known to the Japanese. Japanese were taught that they were a superior race and for a while, foreigners and Europeans were banned from Japan. There was still an African samurai and also a valued white Englishman who served a Shogun. The Shogun would not let him leave Japan to go back to his wife and family, which was sad.

OMG, I found it! I think that's an adobe glitch. Unfortunately, I need to upgrade my computer to handle these large videos because there is an odd delayed glitch effect happening in some videos like this one. The censor lines up perfectly in Premiere, but not when it renders. I will extend the censor then. Thanks!
