A college friend loved this song and Willie. I was not so sure. He gave me a copy of "Red Headed Stranger" and that's all it took. this is great. Thank you.

So subdued..but perfect. I'm listening to more Willie these days, and more country. Pop/rock seems to have lost it's way.
Beautiful.... I remember when this song was heard everywhere you went. Good memories... how I miss those days sitting in the living room and watching county music shows with my parents. Thank you for sharing! 💖

He does!!! I've been enjoying Shania Twain's version, along with Willie, but he puts so much into this. His son has it as well. And it's not even a song he wrote. Wonderful.

Not a fan of country music but I enjoy much of Willie's music. His voice is distinct and his lyrics so often are relatable. Just finished reading his biography released in the late 80s. He was completely honest about his life, the good, bad and embarrassing.

In the twilight glow I see Blue eyes crying in the rain When we kissed goodbye and parted I knew we'd never meet again Love is like a dying ember And only memories remain And through the ages I'll remember Blue eyes crying in the rain Some day when we meet up yonder We'll stroll, hand in hand again In a land that knows no parting Blue eyes crying in the rain

I heard Dolly say once that 'He's as sacred as a unicorn and just as horny and when he dies he'll go straight to heaven in a BIG PUFF of Holy Smoke!'... Yet, he's a Legend now and he and his voice and his exceptional guitar playing will always live in hearts forever.

Willie bought Trigger the guitar so he could sound like Django. no one can sound like Django its impossible. But he has created his own sound by trying. Which in a way is even better than sounding like someone else

Written by Fred Rose sometime in the ?? early '40s ?? and first recorded in 1946. I think it had laid dormant from for at least 10-year patches of its recording history, and once Willie did it, it was His from ever then. I didnt' realize Elvis (WHO-?) recorded this ... funny, like I wrote - once Willie did it, I've never heard that other fellow wobble it along.
