So glad this is back! Here are some very good fics I've found recently: -*52 Days* (Final Fantasy VII): Cloud wakes up on August 11th. It’s his 16th birthday. In 52 days, Nibelheim will burn. This has happened many times before, and he’s getting angry and tired of this time loop thing. It’s time for a different approach. Sephiroth doesn't understand where this strange infantryman suddenly came from, or why he seems so determined to spend time together. (Cloud wants to get laid. Sephiroth just needs a hug. Neither of them know how to talk things out. Also, there's a time loop.) (Hilarious and endearing) -*The End of Infinity* (MCU): In 2023, the battle for the universe has been won. At a cost no one can forget, the fight is over-for all but one. Stephen Strange has an idea. An impossible idea spanning dimensions and timelines, life and death, and the lines of good and evil. But he's played impossible odds before-perhaps he never stopped. (A Loki and Peter Parker centric fix-it) - *King by the Roadside* (The Raven Cycle books): Richard Campbell Gansey III has never had any run-ins with bees. He's never stepped on a hive. He's never suffered any stings. He knows nothing about ley lines or Welsh kings. Then he loses everything, and has to learn. (An AU, what if one of the main characters never died, came back, got an interest in magic and never met the rest of the cast). Edit (can't believe I forgot this one!) -*Back and Forth With You* (Final Fantasy VII): Cloud hadn't expected that the string of words on his arm would lead him to First Class SOLDIER, Zack Fair. Having such an impressive soulmate was beyond intimidating, especially since Cloud couldn't even begin to measure up. Which was why he'd decided to keep his mouth shut and never say a word. If he never said the sentence that was printed on Zack's arm, then Zack would never know the truth of the matter. Unfortunately, the more Cloud tries to distance himself from his soulmate, the more Zack focuses in on him. Until it feels like he can't go anywhere without running into the good-looking First Class. (A Cloud/Zack soulmate AU from one of the best fanfic writers I know! Not completed, but is getting updates at least once a week and the author always finishes her fics. Get ready for a world of fluff and pain.)

I have two fics that I think everyone should be able to read even if they're not in the fandom since I haven't actually consumed the actual source material for either: 1. Regimen by DeanDaniel. A tomtord fic where Tord manages to take over the world and Tom has to survive in a war-torn world while trying to get back at him (regardless of the consequences to others.) The two of them have an unhealthy obsession with each other and the introspection and mind games that happen are crazy. I cannot recommend this fic enough, it's an ongoing 221,781-word fic and it only gets darker and darker. 2. Nico Di Angelo & the Bane of the Gods by ideasCornucopia. I know nothing of Percy Jackson but I was rec'ed this story and it was worth it. It's a Percico fic where Nico has to go back in time in order to stop an event that killed all his friends and destroyed the world (no pressure right?) Unfortunately things aren't as easy as he wants them to be since he is back in his weaker 10-year-old body and even some of his good intentions end up having bad consequences. Pretty epic and clever.

I’m not really sure how well you know BNHA(My Hero Academia) but there is a two fics I would recommend which have become staples in the fandom. 1) ‘Hero Class Civil Warfare’ by RogueDruid(Icarius51) and it’s a fic that takes the popular AU of villain Deku but puts it on its head by making it a controlled setting. Have Izuku play in villain as part of the schools annual hero vs villain war. It’s an interesting look on how Izuku would be as a villain but also the leader and how he differs from Bakugou who is the leader of the heroes. It’s also a great fic because of the writing but also it’s shines a spotlight on a lot of Class 1-B students that we don’t get to see much in the actual anime. And there is of course the teachers watching this unfold and being terrified of Izuku as during this time he uses him mind and planning much more then is quirk. He actually barely uses it. 2) ‘Yesterday Upon The Stairs’ by PitViperOfDoom and this fic explores the idea of Izuku having a quirk but this one being that he’s able to see the dead. The story follows the cannon events but with obvious changes due to his quirk. Izuku on this one is a lot less cheerful and a lot more dead inside, funny I know, but it’s an interesting and incredibly well written story that explores characters and includes a few fandom theories and ships that help enhance the story. Both of these stories are completely and they’re amazing if you want a long read. But if you want something shorter and funnier then I would suggest ‘Big Brother Shouta’ by NightlightFury. It’s a funny short story that looks as the Idea is Aizawa and Izuku being siblings. Short and sweet and overall very fun. It’s seven chapter, which each chapter being labelled the again Aizawa is at the time, essentially having him as the main narrator and only going up to the first day of class. Though I now they have mentioned that they might write more within this universe in the future.

YESSSS I missed these! And Boostle content 😍😍! I don't have many recs except for this one Alucard/Trevor fic I've been loving lately (hasn't updated in a while but the 8 chapters that are already there are so great) and a Viren/Aaravos fic. The first is Whiter Fang by DoubleDog and it's about Alucard meeting Trevor in his wolf form while wounded after his run in with Dracula in S1 and basically becoming his companion, there's a lot of cuteness, bonding, them protecting each other, banter and Trevor being dumb and Alucard being worried about him learning that he's been a vampire this whole time and not just a really smart wolfdog; archiveofourown.org/works/17399888/chapters/40954685 The second is Keep My Body Near by slushiepuff and it's just a cute getting together fic about Viren helping Aaravos escape out of the mirror, Aaravos helping heal Viren's injured knee and there's also just a lot of cuddling and Viren being awkward because both of them are touch-starved and lonely lol, also Viren bonds with the caterpillar archiveofourown.org/works/18270608/chapters/43236641 PS- your hair looks really cool!

The tags say “basically I wanted amok time but sadder and then gayer” and that’s pretty much it. Lots of grief on Spock’s part, angst all the way, but with a happy ending of course. Great read

Hello! I usually am a silent viewer but I have recently come across a fic that has been my obsession in the past week with me finishing over 700k words in a few days. SO therefore I must share this obsession with others as I hold my heart waiting for the final chapter to be released! "Hermione’s life takes a dark turn after the death of her parents, leaving her at the mercy of a tyrannical Matron. Her new home is more prison than sanctuary, haunted by ghosts bearing terrible, bloody secrets. And though she's surrounded by troubled young women, it’s the men in her life who teach her freedom comes at the greatest price of all. Victorian AU, Tomione, Dramione, no triad" Ahem. Madam Umbridge Home for Wayward Girls by LovelyVillain is an absolute masterpiece! It is so well written in diction, pacing, plot, characters, etc. The author really knows how to build this world and the atmosphere. Think gothic, dark, and moody. There is an overarching mystery laid throughout the story as well that builds the intrigue too. The author was able to continuously add twists and turns to propel the story into new directions that kept it interesting. And the ROMANCE!!! I usually avoid love triangles like the plague but the way this one was handled in here was so masterfully done! And the romantic/sexual tension was so well built up that it's so satisfying when it actually gets resolved. The slow burn is worth it! And not only that but the friendships that Hermione has with others is so freaking touching, especially with Harry. That is a BROTP I stan now because of this work. I usually don't care for side characters but the author had me invested in their stories as well! And Hermione's character growth and the other characters' as well was believable, tangible, and beautiful. I can't praise this work enough and how it had me crying in the concluding chapters and I am so hyped to see how it ends! I know the long read may seem daunting but trust me when I say that it is well worth it and is what makes fandom and life fulfilling! Currently reading The Proper Care of Actors and loving it. I'm going to start by recing a rare pair. From Which Stars Have We Fallen, to Meet Each Other Here? By evaceratops and nabberiie Fandom - Star Wars Pairing - Fives/Rabe Chapters - 23/26 words - 148,897 Rabé, despite being the combat expert out of the three handmaidens, is a complete and total sweetheart. ii. Fives thinks he could take her in a sparring match, because she is a foot shorter than him, and he is extremely self-confident. iii. He gets his ass handed to him - and promptly falls in love. Or: the story of the ARC trooper and the royal handmaiden. The story reads just like an episode of TCW plus great art by evaceratops. Fives and rabe are the cutest. Here's some fics I've been reading. - tell me about the big bang by thebrotherswinchester (finn/poe, 35k rated M) this is a character study of finn after the events of TFA. it examines how finn changes and adapts to being in the resistance and him coming to terms to being with a stormtrooper. it also features his growing relationship with poe and how that changes, which by slow burn standards, is excellent. unfortunately, it isn't on ao3 but it is available as a pdf if u look it up and a podfic. Leave the Children Behind by montparnasse (remus/sirius, 54k rated M) This one is about sirius and remus during the lie low for lupin era. it's domestic in a sort of bleak sense, but also it is interspread with a lot of flashbacks back to when remus and sirius were in a relationship during the first war and their time at hogwarts and how it slowly fell apart. it contrasts that era with the current one very well. this fic is very sad ngl foreign objects by audreycritter (gen, 86k, rated G) bruce wayne gets a brain tumor and everyone in the bat family deals. this fic goes through the batkids and alfred's perspective to see how they approach the situation and how their individual relationships with Bruce emerged, changed, and shifted over time. the characterization is fleshed out well and it's... quiet? like the writing is sort of quiet, but also reveals so much. so that's all, but i hope ur doing good!

As for something to recommend I want to recommend something in my own comfort zone that I have reread a lot lately from the Gotham fandom with my favourite ship that of course being Nygmobblepot. Posion control by believe_in_alderaan it is a merrin and cal fic from jedi fallen order it has major spoilers fyi but is so sweet and so cute and there is a sequel thats currently being updated it has 17 chapters and 38000 words 2. For someone to ripple the waters by teatrolley this is a joey tibinai/chandler bing fic, im not that into friends but this fic pulled at my heart strings and is one of the few fics that has actually made me cry, it is one chapter 11000 thousand words 3. The Other Side of This Bright Sun by Kavi Leighanna its maria hill/steve rogers it is short and sweet and something nice to read in these trying times, one chapter 3700 words

MHA Mutishippers!! I've recently been taken hold by *"Fire in the Mountains"* by EllaBesmirched (El_Bell). It's a Todobakudeku (Todoroki, Bakugou and Midoriya) fic set in the fantasy au where Todoroki is a prince arranged to marry Bakugou, the Barbarian King. The twist is that Bakugou is already married... thrice! It's slow burn with amazing plot, fluff, and smut sprinkled in for flavor. At 21 chapters, 167516 words and the possiblity for ongoing story set after it, it is seriously my favorite fic right now! 😁💕

So wonderful to have Fic rec fridays back! I've read some great fics recently, and i think you might enjoy them! -So first, *Echoes of a God* by peppermint_miraculous on AO3. It's a Miraculous Ladybug fic that centers around the idea of Marinette getting jumped in an alley after detransforming, only to have the perpetrator steal her earrings to become the new Ladybug. It's an angst fic that involves a lot of confronting one's own mortality. Light prodding at the canon Love Square ship, and its two chapters away from completion! - *Sunset Crowds Under Empty Streets* by Newyorktopaloalto on AO3, it's an IT by Stephen king fic. it's the first in an everyone lives series. Most of which are social media stories twitter threads and chat logs, but the first one is a story proper showing all seven of the losers club adjusting to their new paradigm. It's got ships throughout the whole series, but this fic in particular has mostly friendship feels. The writer chose a combination of all three interpretations of the story to form her characters and it really shows. Hilarious, great for some light reading. -*Prayers to Broken Stone* by Avelera on AO3, it's a hobbit fic, centered around the idea that, gold madness is also referred to as "Dragon Sickness" and thus, what if the idea was taken a bit more... literally? It's a bagginsheild fic with a 'turning into a literal monster' esque tragedy about it. featuring things such as, the madness of the One Ring, graphic depictions of gruesome transformations, and some really sincere feels. -and finally, *to Tame a Queen* by Caterinawrites on AO3, back into Miraculous Ladybug, but with a sapphic twist. a Chloe/Marinette fic that centers on the idea of Chloe suffering such bad press for her Bully based antics that she approaches Marinette to help her become a better person and Midburn romance follows before too long. This is another one that's just cute. it's great for those sweet sweet Enemies to friends to Lovers feelings.

Heck yeah! Fic Rec Friday is back. Day made! I've been kinda lurking through this video series since the beginning, but this time I'm gonna rec something. Here's a Doctor Strange one I really liked. Strange Happenings, by GrimRevolution. It's a series of vignettes where Stephen Strange encounters some of the other heroes in the MCU in between the major events. Both before he became a sorcerer and after. I'm really fond of ideas that explore what happens in the time between these adventures we see on the big screen and this story has some really interesting ideas of how Stephen could have interacted with these heroes in ways that feel totally in character.

Soon though, he finds himself embroiled in a plot that involves Robin trying to take him down, and Batgirl possibly helping. Add to the mix Red Hood using him for information, and a strange young man walking into his office under false pretenses, Tim finds that his mostly normal life is about to completely change. If you're a fan of JayTim and identity porn, you'll probably like this fic. It's a canon-divergent AU where Tim's parents die far earlier than they do in canon and Tim grows up to work in insurance but still knows far too much about the batfam's secrets for comfort. This fic is amazing at balancing a relatively serious tone with just the right amount of humor and really leaning into all the characters' flaws to make it more realistic. Stay safe and healthy!

I've been reading BBC Merlin fics lately, but Im recing this Fruits basket fic that I started a few weeks a go and havent finished, because I was watching The untamed Its a Kyo/Yuki fic (which I searched for mostly because I like the Ot3 of Kyo/Tohru/Yuki but there isnt much of it) Its unfinished, last updated 2020-02-29 Tagged rampant emotional unavailability with good reason, 388, 437 words, 28/30 chapthers, rated E, It has some heavy duty angst also theyre idiots but in a painfull way, not exactly a mutual pining way, as in it gives of Hanaka disease style pinning vibes, also it goes into past Sonhma family stories and the curse, Im up to chapther 15 and the fic really hurt me and also intrigued me (i really wanna know what actually happened in the monk rat story actually) But yeah its definetly explicit for a reason, No idea ehat with benefits one may call it, maybe bad coping mechanisms

Thanks for the recs everyone, I'm looking forward to a nice evening! Personally one comfort fic (or rather fics, it's a looong series) I always end up coming back to now and again is from the Batman fandom, and it's sort of a Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow character exploration, as well as the whole Arkham gang, especially Joker and Harley, and later Bruce. The fics are very long but imo well worth the time. They also contain both het and slash, but the focus is more psychological than purely romance. Great fics that I recently found: I was found and now I don't roam these streets by hipsterchrist. 15k, Steve/Bucky pairing and it's centered on Bucky's journey of finding himself post Sargent Barnes and being Hydra's Asset. It features Bucky and Tony talking about important things while watching a sloth video. Also ft. Bucky Bears. You want in or out? by emimix3 38k this is a Check, Please! (Please check out the comic if you haven't already!!!) canon divergence fic. with the canon pairing: Eric "Bitty" Bittle/Jack Zimmerman. Bitty is a professional hockey player in this so they start off as not out as a couple. Jack starts a secret group chat for other players in the male league to confide in each other. This was a fun read. A whole lot of history (you and me) by ladililn. I've only seen a handful of Merlin episodes but the fics in this fandom are so good! they're making me a fan. This fic is a 19k Merlin/Arthur modern royalty au where the two of them grow up in Buckingham Palace. The Prince Who Cried Witch by CaffeinatedFlumadiddle 15k canon divergence Merlin/Freya. The author has a bunch of these awesome canon divergence fics that are meant to showcase these side characters, this is my favourite one.

A fic I read recently that I really enjoyed was Here With Me by Raix on AO3. It's a post-Phantom Blood JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fic about Speedwagon's grief following Jonathan's death and expands on his discovery of oil via almost dying in Texas. The language is absolutely lovely and it's great for some tragic jonawagon catharsis. It's also the author's very first fic, so I would definitely give it some love and keep an eye on them, because I think they're going to do some great things. As for my fic recommendations: 1) Speaking of Ted Kord, there is this fic "Five Siblings Ted Didn't Have" by DoctorV (archiveofourown.org/works/14703054/chapters/33977403). It's a series of 5 unrelated oneshots about Ted finding out about siblings he didn't know he had. The idea is kinda weird, but it's just a short, sweet and a really fun piece to read. 2) Second is "Around Red Hood's Barn" by tori1116 (archiveofourown.org/works/14159745/chapters/32636481) it's a jayroy fic. Roy Harper loves his best friend Red Hood, but hates his new neighbor Jason Todd, and so he complains about him to his best friend. A lot. Great fic with lots of identity porn. 3) Next one is "The Time Lost In Between" by Magical_Devil_Alex (archiveofourown.org/works/18257060/chapters/43201151) and it's about Billy Batson (because he is my child and I love him). It plays with the concept, that Billy as Captain Marvel looks very similar to his dead father, which he doesn't really realize. Batman who doesn't have a clue about captains identity (which irritates him to say the least) stumbles upon a picture of a dead man with Captains Marvel face. 4) Last but not least two adorable spideytorch fics: "Always Glad You Came" by aloneintherain (archiveofourown.org/works/6632965) Johnny has a huge crush on Spider-man. But Johnny is a teenager and everybody is sure that Spidey is an adult. Fantastic Four are concerned. "The Long Road Home" by Bookdancer (archiveofourown.org/works/12763224/chapters/29118183) Witch turns Johnny into a dog. Peter on the other hand finds a homeless dog. So, as is perhaps unsurprising given my track record, I've fallen headlong into a fandom decades older than I am, specifically the Blake's 7 fandom. There are a bunch I of recs I could possibly give, as might be expected from someone in a new fandom, but I'll narrow it down to a few: - Little While, Long While by still_lycoris (archiveofourown.org/works/1304524): godtier achievement in the realms of what could be a crack pairing (Avon/Orac, and Orac, for those not familiar with this fandom, is a computer) and making it feel terribly real and plausible and devastating. I really love the portrayal of Avon's deteriorating sanity and increasing dependence on Orac, alongside Orac's attempts to understand his human emotions. Admittedly the ending might not have the same kick if you're not familiar with how the show ends, but it's a heartbreaker either way. (WARNINGS: mild smut, one instance of non-con as performed by a computer without a human concept of sexuality or consent, mentioned character death) - Bluescale Blues by elviaprose (archiveofourown.org/works/4923079) and its remix, Photographic Memory (the Greyscale Remix) by x_los (archiveofourown.org/works/6250201): what can I say, I'm a sucker for fics where people have a sexual relationship but it's incredibly fraught and complicated and no-one acknowledges how they feel and talks to each other about it until its much too late, and hoo boy is this *that*. The first one is very smutty, but it's also incredibly insightful into the two characters and their relationship, and I love the way the small details of the smut reflect that. And then the second one flips the perspective on its head and it's so painful, in the best possible way. (WARNINGS: smut, mentioned character death) - the One Small Change series by Unsentimentalf (archiveofourown.org/series/457675): this one starts off small but grows epic in scope, and I feel like I have to rec it because I just admire it so much. The politics and the worldbuilding are so real it's almost infuriating, in that you so desperately want the characters to triumph and yet it's so clear why they can't. And the political story is balanced with the personal one beautifully. Admittedly, I haven't read the latest installment bc I got kind of burnt out over being informed that my OTP, despite being involved with the same guy, were not going to be involved themselves, but that's just me being a bratty shipper about it. If you're not familiar with the source material, you can just enjoy the genius, and since it's a Big Damn AU it should be the easiest of these 3-4 to follow blind. (WARNINGS: character death, a lot of war/revolution-related violence, torture in one installment) One little extra warning, all of these are spoilery as hell, so if you haven't watched the series and are planning on doing so at some point and don't want to be spoiled, either skip these or do so before reading (it's all on youtube, so it should be fairly easy, if a bit of a time investment - but hey, most of us have some time to spare rn, after all).
