Re-uploaded! Due to the overcast skies I had edited the lighting on the original video which washed out the Rod against the Sky. This version jumps between Light/Dark for the talking/casting portions but allows you to track the rod better, which is hopefully helpful. Also, make sure you watch in HD to see all the good stuff! Thanks for reuploading the video and rebalancing the lighting to help see the white rod on the overcast skies. Your thorough description makes it easier to visualize what was going on with the rod as you were doing your cast stroke. This is the one I have been holding out for. This is the only rod that I dedicatedly wanted to win. I have always loved glass rods and finally seeing one that can handle big game applications is super exciting. The series has been awesome to watch and it looks like you saved the best for last!

gosh dang I want that rod!!!! I love fiberglass rods, did not think they were doable at 11wt. I have to try this rod. great review and review of technique in general. Also i got to live and work in ely all summer long and fished 3 days a week for 3 months what a blast.

Thanks for another excellent pedator rod review !! It's too bad that this rod is not being given away. : - ( I too have a pair of handed down fiberglass rods. They are Shakespeare WonderRod fly rods. Dad taught me how to use/cast a fly rod when I was young & we used them for years for Bluegill in Ohio & in Canada. Hello Gunnar, When comparing fibre glass to graphite rods, we have to compare rods having a) the same lengths, b) the same stiffness and c) the same rod action. Otherwise we make not much sense in comparing the outcomes of using 2 different materials. Fibre glass rods are shorter, while most graphite rods always have been 9 feet for very good reasons. That is because fibre glass rods are getting too heavy in the upper length. If however we compare a soft short graphite rod to a similuar fibre glass rod, I dont know anyone who would not tell which is which when being blind folded (just by the fibre glass rod feeling heavier). Now that doesnt mean, that there aren't some fine glass rods out there being great and hard to kill (big advantage) tools. But casting wise we'll never see fibre glass rods in the fly casting WC for proper reasons. Kind regards Bernd

I use a parabolic rod for glide baits and this seems like a fly fishing analog. Both rods load to the butt and benefit from relaxed, efficient casting. Looks like a great rod for beating the bank on rivers.

I enjoyed the video very much, but I, after many years of fly fishing am just now trying to get the hang of casting fiberglass rods, I picked up 2 cheap ones and they are quite different from graphite. Fun to catch fish on, but very different in feel. Is there a reason that glass is not used in rods 9' and over? Just curious.
