from personal experience, the vekoma vest restraints completely eliminate any headbanging or otherwise painful sensations. It does not eliminate track clunking. Having ridden a vekoma spaghetti bowl with regular OSTR restraints and a Vekoma boomerang with vest restraints, you can really feel the improvement. the vest restraints do make it harder to breathe, though.

I rode this back in 2012, but back then it was known as the Arrow Dynamics coaster The Ninja.

I’m scared of loops so I’m never gonna ride a coaster with a loop but the twisted cyclone is an exception with half loops or corkscrews

Nah try this one. Way less intense than Twisted Cyclone. This is practically a kid coaster now. :)

I agree! Twisted Cyclone is filled with violent ejector airtime and Blue Hawk is pretty mild in comparison.

It was so rough when it was the ninja. It used to beat you to death!!!! The new restraints help but still has a lot of rattle.

For some reason the back is alot smoother than the front. Definitely ride the back row if you get a chance.

It had a bad rep from when it was Ninja. The new restraints make a ton of difference. Those headchoppers are world class and that butterfly element is fairly unique.

I havent been to six flags in over 8yrs but it looks and sounds just like what use to be called the ninja it was black and red then, and omg instant migraine and whiplash at first drop

Your correct it was formerly Ninja. They repainted, got new trains and new restraints. I never rode Ninja, but I heard it was very painful just like you describe. Blue Hawk is actually pretty dang smooth in the back. It's smooth in the front, but very forceful and could lead to some pain. Overall this is now a great ride and I think too many people are sleeping on it.

The drop is pretty smooth, then you start feeling the g's as you start climbing the butterfly element.

Easiest way to explain: A butterfly is an inversion found exclusively on two Vekoma roller coasters. A butterfly begins like a normal loop, but as the track goes up it twists 45 degrees to one side or the other, and then when it is headed down the track twists back. The maneuver is then repeated but in reverse. It is similar to a batwing, however the coaster exits the element traveling in the same direction as it began.

@@kooldad the scream machine was my first coaster when when I was 5 and they had different bars that did not touch you. Felt like I was falling off a building and I DEFINITELY had airtime on every drop

Done quite intentionally. The head choppers on this ride are great. They are not as close as they appear though.

How does filming on these coasters work? Do they allow you to just film or do you have to get it approved first by someone?

I just have my GoPro on in the chest harness and get on the ride. At SFOG I've been told to take it off on Goliath and MindBender, but allowed to wear it on all other rides. On Goliath I actually wore it, then the next ride they told me to take it off.

Nope. I had it on the chest mount when I walked in and noone said anything. The only issue I have had was when I rode the front row on Goliath. One of the workers made me take it off, that's why we only have the 4th row pov.

I've ridden a lot of roller coasters all over the world and consider the "Ninja" to be one of the scariest because of the headbanging it did to me. The left and right jabs from the roller coaster were the most memorable thing about it! The Georgia Cyclone was even worse! Traumatizing to the point where to this day I won't get on a roller coaster without Tylenol in the pocket!
