This is my home park. I've been going here 50 years and rode every coaster but the mini mine train. The Georgia cyclone was fun when it opened but it got so rough you'd think it had square wheels. I remember when the Great American Scream Machine opened and having to wait in line to get your hand stamped to tell you when you could wait in line. Superman has two things I like. The first being when you top the lift hill and you're tilted downward, and the pretzel loop. However, I don't like riding it due to the lengthy time you spend face down waiting to return into the station and seeing all the vomit stains under where the trains stage. My three favorites are Goliath, Batman, and Blue Hawk. DeJaVu stayed broken down. It was the only coaster I've seen with trim brakes on the side of a loop. I remember a train getting stuck on the loop and the riders stick there for a long time. Viper was short, but one of my favorites.

@@clownbabydragon SFoG was pretty good. Coaster wise it would rank 3rd out of the parks I went to though it's very hard to beat Lightning Rod and Fury 325. Goliath and Twisted Cyclone were great and I also enjoyed Batman, Daredevil Dive and even mindbender. I was really surprised by the high G-forces on Goliath, Mindbender and Superman (damn that pretzel loop was insane). The overal quality of the park was a bit meh though. It felt like a park that used to be really good but suffers from faded glory now. The food was terrible (though that was a common complaint while traveling the USA). This is a great format. I love ranking videos and roller coaster history. The coaster was a great ride in 2003, 2008, and 2012. The coaster rode very well those days. I do not know what happened. but when riding in 2015 this coaster became very rough...NO IDEA WHY..They probably changed trains between 2012 and 2015. Also in 2019 it was rough as well. Allow me to say a few things as someone who used to have this as his local park and revisited last year: I can't attest to how the original GASM trains compare to the Cyclone trains, but my brother agreed that they made the ride worse, and it was one all of us loved when it had the buzz bars. It was like Goliath Jr. However, your experience was kinda dependent on where you sat. I can confirm that Blue Hawk is a hundred times better than when it was Ninja, and I kinda liked it back then even; it didn't really bother me as much as it did others. Still, the soft best restraints make it far easier to appreciate the layout, and especially the crazy headchoppers you mentioned. I found myself ducking several times in my experience. And yes, the original Georgia Cyclone was pretty rough. It was the only coaster in the park that I really regretted riding, didn't help that it was basically my first roller coaster. The RMC treatment really did the ride wonders, and had they not cut out the last third of the layout, it possibly would've become my favorite ride. If I ever go on it again, I'll be sure to go for a back-row ride!
@impracticallychristopher2 жыл бұрын
Goliath is definitely my #1 in the park too. One thing that keeps it from being a top tier hyper for me is that first drop. Not because it’s sub 200 ft., but because the angle of descent is more shallow than other hypers. That said, it’s an amazing coaster and I’m very happy to have it at my home park.

I forget to say this every time but, good video! I really like this park, sure, it has its flaws, but it is still a fun time regardless. There's a lot of different ways a ranking of their coasters can go, and like always, here's mine: 11. The Joker Funhouse Coaster - I was disappointed when the "funhouse" was nothing but a shed, but I'd never been to a Six Flags park then... It's one of the better kiddie coasters I've ridden, with a weirdly fun pop on the drop in the back, and a great fast helix. I'll ride this every other trip for the experience, provided it doesn't have a long wait due to its awful capacity. Rank: 65/80 10. Dahlonega Mine Train - I've only ridden 2 Arrow mine trains, but I'm already a fan. There's something fun about riding a really old coaster, long, 3 lift hills, turns, hills, shakiness, all secluded in its own place. Add in a fun and thrilling finish and I'll do this twice every time I go. Rank: 54/80 9. Great American Scream Machine - My parents loved this ride when they were young, saying it was full of airtime. A few years ago, my mom and brother rode this, and it was awful. I finally got to ride it, and it's the 2nd roughest coaster I've ridden, behind Cheetah at Wild Adventures. My first 2 rides did nothing: no airtime and lots of roughness. The drop was decent, and the laterals around the turns, but it gave no airtime, and this is coming from someone light enough to get a bit of airtime on Hurler of all rides! I got to ride a 3rd time on another visit, and it was actually good. Still rough, but the drops popped, and the hills gave decent airtime. I had this below Dahlonega Mine Train until this ride. I just hope the refurbishment make this ride much better (oh, and they should turn off that trim after the first drop, too). Rank: 53/80 8. Blue Hawk - I don't like this as much as some people, but it's still fun. It packs in some unique elements into an intense layout. There's no headbanging of course, but the ride still shakes quite a bit, so I'll usually only ride this once, if that, because they only run 1 train and said train goes a snail's pace up the lift so the line takes forever... Rank: 42/80 7. The Riddler Mindbender - I never rode this in its original form, but according to my dad, it ran much faster before refurbishment. They installed a trim brake after the first loop that slows the train down significantly. Because I never rode the original, I can't make a comparison. I enjoyed this one, not much airtime, but it's exciting, and the loops are still intense, same with the half-loop. It's also smooth, which is another plus. Rank: 38/80 6. Georgia Scorcher - I understand why people don't like standups, but I think they're fun. This one and Vortex are decent rides. Unlike Vortex however, Scorcher has soft restraints that absorb any headbanging (compared to the hard ones on Vortex). I like the intense loop and helices putting forces on your feet; it's quite unique. Throw in a wave turn and a corkscrew and you have a solid little ride. Looking forward to riding the bigger models someday! Rank: 37/80 5. Dare Devil Dive - Absolutely-- ride this first, it gets a long line. Some days they're only running 2 trains, and that's even worse. The ride is great though, with intense and unique inversions, an awesome zero-g roll, and that great drop. It also run smooth in most rows. Also, it's the quietest coaster I've ever heard; you can barely tell it's running by you! Rank: 35/80 4. Superman: Ultimate Flight - I'm a big fan of Manta, so I enjoyed this one, too. It's not nearly as good, being somewhat short, and having only 2 inversions. But it's still a B&M flyer, zooming over the terrain and through a short tunnel. Throw in a roll and an insane pretzel loop and this is a great ride! Rank: 18/80 3. Batman The Ride - I didn't know people considered this the best Batman clone. But it's really good! The elements are whippy and the ride is fast-paced. Sitting in the front feels more intense for me, actually. It feels short but also complete, as too much longer and you might get dizzy! Rank: 16/80 2. Twisted Cyclone - My parents liked the Cyclone until recently, when it got really rough. Now, of course, it's awesome. Start off with a fun little pre-lift section before a drop that is good in the front, but insane in the back. Then there's 3 fun inversions, an airtime wave turn, and more of that ejector airtime goodness RMC does so well. It's short, but worth the ride! Rank: 10/80 1. Goliath - This is my favorite hyper out of the 3 I've ridden. The airtime on this one is stronger than the others, and that's great. The helix is awesome and better than any regular turnaround the others have. It's a long ride, too. The middle seats rattle quite a lot, but the back is decently smooth, while the front still has almost no rattle, replaced with that awesome feeling of wind in your face as you zoom through the layout! Rank: 3/80 I would've loved to ride Viper and Deja Vu; it's sad that the only ones left in the U.S. are across the country! Also, happy Mario day everyone! (that was yesterday but still)

Here is the reason. They are stopping the ride with the emergency brakes. The regular brakes are after the turn coming in to the station. The train is now going to fast to make the station turn so they use the other brakes first.
@sharkheadism2 жыл бұрын
@@carlperry3631 The brakes before the turn are the main brakes and form the end of the main brake block (which starts at the top of the lift). After the turn is the safety brake block, then the station. The train entering the main brakes will experience a very hard stop if the train ahead of it hasn't cleared the station block. My home park for almost 2 decades. I used to go at least once a year back in the 90s and 2000s. It was a day here and then usually a day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg when I would go home to E NC to visit with my family. Poor Six Flags suffered from the comparison unfortunately. As for the coaster rankings.... Well the Eurofighter wasn't there the last time I went. Twisted Cyclone wasn't either and Blue Hawk was still the Ninja. And I arrived too late to ride the Mini Mine or Z Force. And I never bothered with the kiddie coaster. Of those coasters the Eurofighter looks good and Twisted Cyclone has to be an improvement over the old Cyclone. I remain skeptical of Blue Hawk. But here's my take on what I road. 1. Superman Ultimate Flight. The novelty of laying under the track in a prone position really sells this one for me. This is one of my favorite coasters of all time. 2. Mindbender, with the old trains. I have no idea about these new trains but one of the best aspects of this coaster used to be that it was a looping coaster that only had a lap bar restraint. It runs through some of the best looking terrain in the park and it rarely has a long line despite being one of the park's best coasters. 3.Goliath. I'm not a huge fan of hyper coasters probably because I love a coaster with inversions. This is a good hyper though, equal to or better than Apollo's Chariot in my book. 4. Georgia Scorcher. This is a wonderful coaster best enjoyed in the very last car for ejector airtime going over the first drop. It's not at all uncomfortable and it's one of the more enjoyable coasters in the park to me. 5. Batman the Ride. The first lift hill on this is so weak and tiny to me and the elements are intense but they whip by so fast it's hard to keep track of where you are. I always feel woozy when I get off this coaster and much prefer Alpengeist or Montu at the two BG parks to this one. 6. Viper. For such a simple ride this thing was a lot of fun and it wasn't painful to ride it either. 7. Great American Scream Machine. Of the parks two wooden coasters this used to be the one that was less painful to ride. It was a lot better when they ran the trains backwards IMO but it was never a painful ride back in the 90s and early 2000s. I wouldn't chance it now though. 8. Ninja. This was without a doubt the roughest steel coaster I've ever ridden and it would just beat you up too much to enjoy all the fun elements. It's hard for me to believe they've made it THAT much better. 9. The Dahlonega Mine Train. At least it's not painful to ride, it's just boring. Road it once on my first trip in 93ish and never went back. 10. The Georgia Cyclone. This is the coaster that made me swear off wooden coasters forever. I've never been in so much pain after riding a coaster. My last ride was some point in the late 90s and I was still in my 20s so you know it had to be bad for me to feel that beaten up at such a young age. 11. Deja Vu. Never road it because they NEVER had it running... Year after year, visit after visit, season after season it was always closed every time I was in the damn park. It's no wonder they pulled it after only 6 years. It looked so cool but it's a waste of space if it's always broken down. The park went through enormous expansion from the mid 90s to mid 2000s. The first year or two I was there there were only 4 full sized coasters in the park not including the Mine Train. Ninja, Mindbender, GASM and Cyclone were all you had to choose from and compared to the coasters I had ridden elsewhere all but Mindbender left me disappointed. Batman the Ride was the first inkling of better things to come but it was Superman and Goliath that really elevated this park to something worth going out of your way to visit. Sad to see that they've only put in one totally new, one refurb and one rework since my last visit over 10 years ago. Seems like the park could use some more love to me.

I haven't been to the park since Batman opened - I rode it for its first summer! - but we're going back in three weeks and I'm so excited about GASM's refurb it's a little ridiculous. I'm hoping Mindbender is still a good time with the new cars; it was my very first upside-down coaster as a kid, back when it was still that rusty maroon color. And Dahlonega, which was my first coaster AT ALL, is also on the must-ride list, for nostalgia's sake if nothing else.

This is my home park, so I’ve been on each of these a few times. I’d put scream machine in bottom five. It’s so rough it feels like laying down in an earthquake with a jackhammer on top of you, and I rode near the back(regrettably) and couldn’t find any airtime and I was far from stapled. Almost everything else I agree with
@AirtimeThrills2 жыл бұрын
Yeah if i thought the ride was boring in additiom to the ungodly roughness i would put it probably last

Having just visited the park for the first time last weekend, I personally prefer Twisted Cyclone over Goliath. A combination of preferring airtime over intensity (I gray out on Goliath's helix - never expected that from a B&M hyper) as well as the rattle on Goliath being a tad uncomfortable had me preferring Twisted Cyclone. I can definitely see that Goliath is the more well rounded ride and certainly can't fault anyone for liking it more. Also Great American Scream Machine is getting a retrack, so we'll have to see how it rides after that's done.

Now that I live only 3 hours away from this park (technically 4 because I live in central time) I really want to go back and ride Mindbender because it was closed when I visited last year

Some takes: I got IN LINE for Dare Devil Dive 21 times, I rode it twice. My god does that thing go down a LOT. It became a joke by the end placing bets on if it would close while we were in line or not. Blue Hawk is cool. GASM is a BEAUTIFUL ride, but I thought I was going to end up in traction after it was over. Terrible. Goliath is SOOOOO darn good. Batman is definitely the best of its kind. EXTRA : Monster Mansion was obviously created by someone on acid, but I loved it. Lol.

If ever you are wondering why Great American scream machine is so rough, it’s probably because the ride was built by the Rcca, although PTC still is the manufacturer/designer

Been trying to get here for over 30 years. Mindbender was considered my many to be the greatest Steel coaster of the 80s. Sad I missed the original trains, still hope to make it sometime in the next 2-3 years. Arie Force One should make that a lot easier.

"If you were ever wondering where [Deja Vu] was, it's been replaced by this train ride" That's where Pandemonium is now, the pendulum swing. But wow, I never realized THAT'S where Deja Vu used to be, I swore it was more in the middle of the park. Funny how our memories trick us. To be fair I only rode it 2 or 3 times in my life. I wanted Mine Train to be higher but I can't really make a compelling argument for it. It's just a solid ride for its age, I enjoy hopping on it at the end of my day if there's no line. It's not winning any awards but it knows what it's about and it does it well. Scream Machine. God that thing used to be my favorite ride as a kid, I must have been made of shock absorbers, because now it literally hurts me. I have to clench my jaw to make sure I don't bite my tongue off. I've gotten maybe 2 good rides on it as an adult, and I still haven't figured out where the magic spot is. Twisted Cyclone and Goliath always go back and forth for my best rides in the park. Each of them is great in their way. I visited Texas last summer and got to experience their hypers and RMCs and now I understand better why some look down on ours in Georgia, but damn it they're good for the park. Great list!

I'm sad I missed out on some of the older rides. I vividly remember Viper being there before it got replaced with Superman, but I never actually rode it before it got taken out because I was too scared to go on inverting coasters back then. Also, while not a coaster, I fondly remember a pirate show with live animals and stuff from when I was really young. I think that was where the Gotham area is now. They probably converted it into the arena for that Batman show, which also got shut down and now they just use the venue for storage and Fright Fest.

Original comment first, but an edit-update later: The only big disagreement I have here is how high you put Dare Devil Dive. It bores me after the first drop and dive loop. Those two elements are great, but the rest of the ride puts me to sleep. At least it would if I actually had time to fall asleep. I feel like I would be dishonest if I didn't edit this. I re-rode Dare Devil Dive for the first time in years, and it completely changed my mind. It is short, sure, but it is forceful and a lot of fun. I still don't have it at number three in the park, but I certainly understand it now.

I’m old enough to have road all of them. And yes Z Force was the worst. I actually liked the Mini Mine train - never had a line - lol! Cyclone was one of my favorite and I hated they changed it. I loved it being rough. Like you I also don’t like scorcher. Scream Machine has too be top 3 for me. And I also road it backwards as we did batman when they did it backwards. Mindbinder is one of my top ones but it was better when it opened and through the 80s. It’s worse now. We haven’t rode it with the renovation but already don’t like it.

I live about 20minutes from the park and we get memberships every year. I’d definitely rank Dare Devil Dive much lower on the list. Half the time, it breaks down and gets stuck on the track. Last time I rode it was 3 years ago and we got stuck for 40minutes on Coca Cola day. And the kids joker coaster is fun but ended up smoking and having to close multiple times last year. Also thank your stars you never had to ride the Takis Ninja…it was rougher than any wooden coaster I’ve been on in my life, including the Great American Scream Machine 😖
