One of my favourite quotes. Making little rocks out of big rocks all day
@centerice Жыл бұрын
Even without any bass in the audio, STILL THE BEST live version on the internet. Saw these guys live in the basement of a music store during their very first tour around the US. It was during their meteoric rise and they were the "tightest" band I'd ever heard live. Instrumentals, vocals.. just super, super tight. All serious bands know what it feels like to be in that zone with your band. Anyway, yeah, these guys were in that place and I'm sure they could feel it. Made you think they were playing and rehearsing together in the van as it drove down the highway, 14 hours a day, every day.

Man, this is a great version! Cool to see Tom Adams on the banjo.

Playing his trusty Gold Star. Not too many pro guys playing those. He sure gets a great sound out of it though. But then again, pretty sure Tom gets a great sound outta whatever is in his hands.

In The Gravel Yard -Malcolm B. Pulley jr CHORUS: [1]In the gravel yard, with a [4]number for my [1]name Making little rocks out of [5]big rocks all [1]day Oh, the work is mighty hard [4]in the gravel [1]yard I’ll never be a [5]free man, so they [1]say Warden hear my plea, [4]listen now to [1]me I killed a man that [5]I caught with my [1]wife You’d have probably done the same, so [4]why am I to [1]blame Sentenced to the [5]rest of my [1]life In the driving rain [4]with a ball and [1]chain My hammer rings a [5]low mournful [1]sound It sings a little song for the [4]ones who done me [1]wrong Who lie beneath the [5]cold, cold [1]ground .

Shawn is a hometown guy. What a talent. Thankful he followed his abilities. He has said at one time, his younger brother chad was a better singer. He's pretty good. Very few family videos to prove it.

Well, if "Chad" was a better singer than Shawn, then Chad missed his calling! Because that would make him one heck of a good singer to beat Shawn!
@michaelmullins1290 Жыл бұрын
@@centerice he is good. Look up Angel eyes with Shawn in it. It's Shawn, Chad, and Grayson I think.

@sandman554521 I know, Tom suffers from focal dystonia, and he doesn't pick banjo much, he plays guitar a lot more now. He probably could play banjo again, but he says he wouldn't be able to play as fast as he used to.

Once you've heard their version of this song, just ain't no use in listening to anyone else's. It'd only lead to disappointment.

@phishernj420 Never make fun of Lester and Earl, ever! Blue Highway is one of my favorites, but F&S will be the greatest bluegrass band of all time, other than Bill Monroe & The Bluegrass Boys.
