Jim, my brother gave me his old banjo and I decided to learn it. I went through your 10 tutorials and am amazed at how fast I learned. Today is only day 3 of practice and I am amazed how fast I can play cripple creek and boil em cabbage down (I have a few months of guitar experience which helps). Sir, you earned a patreon and I’m so excited to continue learning this beautiful instrument. Thanks brother!

@Mike Bastiat could also be you might not be ready yet? As for tab on the screen... don't count on that. I'd rather y'all use your ears instead of your eyes.
@JimPankey2 жыл бұрын
@Mike Bastiat There ya go... you're just starting. You might "think" you can hear and see everything, but just like playing, those are skills that improve as you practice. You'll eventually be able to hear what the right hand is doing too. You've got a lot of right hand work to sort out yet though. Give it time. I know it's so tempting to jump way ahead, but you've got to get a good foundation. It's not like I'm trying to gate-keep; it's just me trying to keep you out of the weeds until you get your footing.

I like how you called it a new tune. 🤣 I guess it's new compared to the classic standards, but the truth is, it's at least a quarter of a century old. Sounds real old when I say it that way. Thanks for this one, it's one of my favorites. Can you do a follow up on this one with some cool rolling back- up? Thanks again and keep 'em coming.

that's still quite new in the scheme of things. I've been playing since 1977, so quarters of centuries add up pretty quick...
