I got my first pen today from the hobby lobby. I initially bought it to help my wife make little touches for her business making hand written sealed letters to send out with orders. But now I think I want to start writing letters because in practicing it was quite enjoyable.

Props for Parker quink blue.. my school ink of choice, although we were allowed MB Royal Blue as well, but everything had to be in cartridges.. given what a bunch of heathens we were as kids I understand why. Also picking up some Australian Sky Blue now, as for Blue inks not featured, maybe some cobalt blue shades?

Another wonderful comparison, thank you! I’ll have to give Asa-Gao another look, do you feel like it’s an outlier in Iroshizuku being a bit dry? I find most of them to be on the wet side to work in relatively dry Pilot pens
@PenultimateDave
@PenultimateDave 4 жыл бұрын
Typically I find most of Iroshizuku inks fairly wet but there can be a few that tend to be more on the dry side, but it also depends on how wet the nib and how broad the nib is.

The pen is the William Shakour Titan, it’s a pen made by a UK Pen Collector William Shakour. I have a review of two of his Titan's at kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJ2to3tsjpl4mNk and another one at kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqjIfqWGfNmUa9U He doesn’t have a website, he’s on Instagram as instagram.com/williamshakour and can make pens to order.

Thank you for all the good comparison videos. They are quite informative specially for a novice like me. I must admit that after watching your videos I walk away with my head spinning trying to make purchasing decisions based of some of the properties of these inks. If I may I wish you would speak a little more about drying time when comparing some of these inks. Also so direct comparison between the very popular DIAMINE, EDELSTEINS, AND IROSHIZUKUS. I am still looking for a direct comparison of EDELSTEIN TOPAZ Vs PILOT KON PEKI Vs DIAMINE ROYAL BLUE. Throw in there EDELSTEIN SAPPHIRE for bonus. It comes to a point when they are all blue and look close the same. So what would be the decisive factor to choose one Vs the other? Again thank your greatly!!! Peter
@PenultimateDave
@PenultimateDave 3 жыл бұрын
The drying times mostly are a factor of how wet a nib or wide a nib you put the inks in. Although some inks may be wetter than others it's difficult to really know for sure how much longer a wetter ink will remain wet for. Yes, I'll be doing some of my favourite ink colours soon which will be direct comparisons.

Hi Dave! Great review as usual. I love the blue purple color of Edelstein Sapphire. Is it a wet ink or do you have any recommendations for a wet purply blue?

Hi Dave, I also love asa-gao, it is definitely a sheening ink. Among your selection, I'm quite intrigued by the two Robert Oster. How do you rate them in terms of maintenance ?
@PenultimateDave
@PenultimateDave 4 жыл бұрын
I don't have any problems with those Robert Oster inks cleaning out of pens, I typically use cartridge converters for Australian Sky and Blue Water Ice, although Australian Sky I will also use in some piston pens. I find they flush out relatively easily compared to other inks from Diamine and Pilot Iroshizuku.

Another great video. I am fairly sure that when companies, perhaps other than Japanese ones, use ASA it is short for American Standards Association. The American version of ISO - International Standards Authority. It is pronounced as in A.S.A. Gosh, that's twice I've mentioned pronunciation. I do hope you don't mind. It's not so important, trying to be helpful. These reviews are tremendously helpful and so very well done.
@PenultimateDave

Fantastic video - any chance you can talk about the writing properties of RO Australian Sky Blue. I have found some RO inks to feel dry but never tried Australian Sky Blue. Do you notice the same thing some RO inks?
@PenultimateDave
@PenultimateDave 4 жыл бұрын
I don't have many RO inks, I have 10 currently. I've found some can be a little dry although tend to be inks that are gold or orange in colour. I haven't had any issues with Robert Oster Australian Sky Blue, I typically ink it up in a Leonardo pen and find it writes quite wet for me.

I always like blues like RO Blue Water Ice and Australian Sky Blue; they look great on screen, but when I have them in front of me, I always find them leaning too green. Between the two, which one, to your eye, with the paper you use (I believe TR 52), looks more blue?
@PenultimateDave
@PenultimateDave 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chiara, I would say Blue Water Ice looks more blue to me than Australian Blue, Australian Blue is more of a turquoise.

May I ask why you swab the ink twice. Surely this gives a false impression to how it will appear from a pen.Kind regards Chris.
@PenultimateDave
@PenultimateDave 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, depending on the pen you use, some pens write very wet and some write very dry, so the single vs double pass shows the difference between a wet vs a dry nib.

I don’t need any more blue inks. I don’t need any more blue inks... Maybe if I keep saying it, it will make it easier not to buy RO Australian Sky. Blue Water Ice is one of my favorite shaders & Skull + Roses is my go to sheener. Have you tried KWZ Hawaii Blue? It is my all-time favorite ink. It is like Blue Water but just more, if that makes any sense.
