BLUE JEAN director Georgia Oakley about her experience as a queer filmmaker | ZFF Daily 2022

BLUE JEAN director Georgia Oakley creates a story in her film about a queer woman in the 80’s, where a new queer-discriminating law was just introduced. She gives us insights what it’s like to work with a female identifying film team and talks about what has changed for the LGBTQ+ community since the 80’s.

Cast / Audiovisual Media ist eine Fachrichtung der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Unter der Leitung von Eric Andreae, Nadia Holdener, Alun Meyerhans, Nina Rothenberger und Raffael Thielmann planen die Studierenden des 3. und 5. Semesters Videobeiträge für ZFFDaily. Dabei wenden sie ihre Kenntnisse in Animation, Schnitt, Kameraführung und Social Media an, welche sie sich während des Studiums angeeignet haben.

The «Zurich Film Festival» brings together filmmakers, directors, the film industry and the audience in Zurich. Cast / Audiovisual Media is a subject area at the Zurich University of the Arts. Under the direction of Eric Andreae, Nadia Holdener, Alun Meyerhans, Nina Rothenberger and Raffael Thielmann, the students in the 3rd and 5th semester create audiovisual content for «ZFF Daily». They use their knowledge in animation, editing, filming and social media acquired during their studies.

Saw the film recently, and its true as this story is now quite common to see, but I love how Georgia wrote this and her directing gave this film a unique outcome. Also, Rose McEwan is phenomenal in this film. I'm so glad I watched it.
