I remember taping this off of WITF back in 1986, and then replaying it over an over again when I was younger. Ahh, the great program PA Short Lines!

2839 was also used in the Southern steam program and was commonly known as The Beer Can by the group. Originally built for the British Columbia Railway it now resides in California.

The whistle that she had for the Grand opening at Steamtown was the Boston & Maine, the whistle here on the 425 is a PRR three chime whistle own by Mr.Muller, I do miss the days of the old BM&R. I was there almost every weekend for three years straight. Then when Muller got the Boyertown branch, it was alot closer since I live in Pottstown. He ran 425 there two years straight 1991-92. Len.

Wish they still used the line more now, maybe as another tourist line like the LGSRY. But it looks like they've shifted most of their traffic to the Reading Cluster. It was great while it lasted.

It could be another tourist line, if they would let Reading Tech run more train rides on it. Then it would be a Reading diesel powered operation with Reading Blueliner open window coaches. Maybe they could have boardings at both Temple and Hamburg like the old days. Then, wishful thinking, they could persuade NS to let them run excursions to Philly and Harrisburg with Reading diesel power, but then the Blueliner coaches have friction bearing trucks, which are now a no-no on NS and other class 1s

Just north of Reading, Penna. It's now a part of the owners much larger system the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern or Reading and Northern for short. However 425 runs on other lines of his not this one. This line is freight only.
