We’re so sorry to hear that you had these issues. We’ve used Amazon a lot over the years for vinyl, all preorders. However, we’ve stopped using them almost a year ago. They either didn’t package them properly, bad pressings or just didn’t get the item all together. Even with a preorder, there was no guarantee you would receive your record or our favorite,”undeliverable.” As far as the Blue Note records, especially the Tone Poet or Classic Vinyl Series, we ordered DIRECT from Blue Note themselves.🎧

Beautifully described. I love both these albums and your descriptions really do them justice. Bobby Hutcherson really adds a lovely dimension to Idle Moments and Kenny Burrell is one of my favorite guitarists and jazz musicians.

These two really delighted me. Idle Moments is just the style of music I've been waiting to discover. What a magical sound they create. A great match with Midnight Blue.

I know it's a bit discouraging to hear about pressing issues, but I've gotta tell you if ANY titles in this series are worth the effort, it's these. If you are an Amazon Prime subscriber, the free and easy return and replacement policy really makes it hassle free.

I remember when I first started exploring jazz, seeing that jacket design and title only, that I had to hear what it was all about. At the time, there were only out of print or the expensive reissues around. I sampled it on streaming and instantly fell in love with it. I knew I had to have it and was thrilled when it was announced as part of this series. It's still one of my favorite jazz albums. Thanks for watching and for your comment!

Scary I did the exact thing you did to make sure I would get a great pressing on Midnight Blue. Also the 2nd copy of the album was by far a better pressing. Did the same thing before for Hank Mobley on Soul Station. Obviously it's not our first rodeo with the Blue Note Classic Series. Great video

I had really been looking forward to Midnight Blue since it had been announced, and was NOT going to take any chances on getting a good one on the first run! Seems they've gotten the problems worked out now for the most part. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I bought both too - Kenny Burrell needs to go back because of this squeal sound in the upper registers on side one (didn't read about the no fill but definitely sounds bad in parts). Great album that I was glad to have bought from Amazon as well.

Hi Jason. I absolutely love the music and the mastering on both titles. My Idle Moments is wonderful. Hoping the Burrell replacement (#2) is perfect. Amazon just updated me that it's coming a week early, so I'm not sure if it will be from a new batch. Fingers crossed!

Hi I’m playing my copy now I purchased from a small independent record store in Coventry uk side one I’ve had two zip sounds but wondering if I clean will that help ? As don’t like returning to small store if I returned every record I had a problem with it would be majority I’m afraid sounds bad but true . I too love this album. Maybe like you suggested get another from Amazon and see then I can return that one . Or clean this one ? Great insight thanks joe

@@ThePressingMatters hi no Amazon out of stock of some of these kenny Burrell etc . Agree with on when you get a good vinyl pressing it does great on vinyl the warmth etc . But I’ve had a lot more bad vinyl than good especially non fill and from past guilty of accepting it and thinking cleaning the dirty new vinyl will help but in most cases it doesn’t. And with prices now it’s a rich man’s hobby but with lack of quality control sounding negative but I’m afraid it’s true . I bought the new war on drugs new album on both black and the blue coloured version. The first black record was warped and again surface noise . The blue even more surface noise at nearly 40 uk pounds each that’s 80 pounds for inferior products. I think a lot of times they aren’t bothered with quality. . Sorry sounds bad on my part . If I took back or returned all the bad pressings I’ve bought I’d be returning 85% of the vinyl I buy . Not enough buyers return I’m guilty of that . I hope to get better pressing of kenny and grant in future kind regards great channel take care joe

Further to my earlier comment grant green idle moments has terrible non fill on side one it’s horrendous. I’m very annoyed that there is no quality control. Kind makes me want to obtain all my jazz on cd . Will definitely be returning both of them shame it’s a small business rather than Amazon kind regards joe

That's why for this series, I use Amazon. I lucked out with Idle Moments. Great album. I know sometimes I get frustrated and want to go digital. But then you hear that special record that makes you realize why you got into vinyl in the first place.

@@ThePressingMatters not sure as its still sealed.... Bought 600 plus vinyl albums this year but still to secure a set up... Listening to you and others it looks like quite a few could be worthless.... Fingers crossed

Sometimes I feel like people are collecting these albums like baseball cards without really listening to the music. I'm a jazz guitarist and although I love both Kenny Burrell and Grant Green, these are no way their best recordings. These may be popular titles worth a listen and such but check out some of their later recordings. For example, the performances on the recordings Kenny Burrell did on Muse records are much better. Grant Green did a lot of stuff with Larry Young and Sonny Clark that are phenomenal. I see so many ignorant comments in many forums like if it's not Blue Note or not on vinyl it's not jazz.

I'm really enjoying getting to know the Blue Note catalog through this series. It's a great time to be exploring jazz. I get what you're saying. With so many releases coming regularly, and working full time, I can only listen to one or two records a day. I'll get around to the later stuff eventually, and will check out your recommendations. I think Kenny Burrell’s Guitar Forms on the Verve label is superb. Check out the Speakers Corner reissue, it’s fantastic
