Buck Dharma is one of the most under-appreciated guitarists in rock yet he ALWAYS lays down such incredibly melodic lines. Truly one of the best players! You need to listen to his solo album, "Flat Out." Some real gems!

You noticed the drumming on this masterpiece. Such busy drumming on a ballad shouldn't work but it totally does. Albert even chucks in a bit of double bass drum towards the end. Fantastic playing.

The beauty of BOC ….. that they can dig deep, they can rock out with the best & then slip you into a trance with this song. The vampire elements present once again. No one could beat their live show back during the “laser show”.
@cindyfalstrom72312 жыл бұрын
I think this is a beautiful song. As for their popularity, from my own experience I can say that during the years they were popular, I was more into blues/rock and didn't pay that much attention to BOC, although we did own their 1st album. Now that I am more mature in my tastes, I am thankful to have the opportunity to be reintroduced to this most excellent band. This is what has always made you stand out amongst the other reactors - the willingness to perhaps move away from those other popular bands and check out less knowns artists and listen to recommended deep album cuts. Although you may not get as many hits as "hotel Calif" or "Rhianna" or other popular songs, those of us who truly love good music and appreciate your opinions and analysis are would be very grateful to see you do more deep dives into certain artists or full albums. I think the best songs are most often the album cuts. Thank you (and G.) for this...

One of the reasons BOC had such diversity of output is that every member was a great songwriter. Some bands, there might be one songwriter in the group. Also, four of the five BOC members sang; the main ones were Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma; but Al Bouchard, Joe Bouchard also sang lead. Allen Lanier was also a multi-instrumentalist, being able to rock out on guitar and on keys. The amount of talent in the band was perhaps unmatched compared to almost any rock band you can name.

This is my favorite BOC song. It's the story of my life. I love the night. The day isn't bad but I do love the night far more. I saw them 5 times back in the mid to late '70s. I still listen to them all the time. Great band.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING YHIS FOR A SPIN BROTHER!! 💥🎉👊🍻 I have been HELPLESSLY…HOPELESSLY ADDICTED TO THIS SONG SONCE IT DROPPED IN 9th GRADE! I loved the band when it was straight up metal, and I lived this transition era! They had the first laser show in that tour-WILD WEST SHIT LOL!! Lasers in drumsticks! Hand held lasers (when Bloom sang ETI he put thd laser on the big spinning mirror ball-INSANITY-especially for the time! Diffused laser walls… Aaaaand then the govt started heavily regulating the ol’ lasers LOL! But I digress… I LOVE THE NIGHT has never dropped out of my all time favorite 5-10 songs of ANY genre no matter WHAT I was listening to in a given time! Its hypnotically addictive ambience just envelopes & holds you, floating in some poignantly beautiful embrace! Perfect for misty, rainy Puget Sound nights! Ditto steamy, misty Louisiana nights! You are a straight up ROCKSTAR & my starting point ALWAYS for reaction vids!

I have been a fan of BOC since the '70s, and attended their Agents of Fortune tour, with Rush as their opening act. It was phenomenal. They had a great light show. But, it was only a few years ago that I stumbled across this gem on another reaction channel and really enjoyed it, even though it was nothing like the BOC sound I was used to. It is such a pretty song, however, and there is always a place for pretty songs that aren't cliche or trite, like with the songs of Bread, Carpenters and America. I still want you to react to "Morning Final" and Tenderloin." Also, more YES!! "South Side of the Sky" in particular. Keep up the great work on the channel, Chod. You should have reacted to this song with Dee, tho. 😁✌❤
@vicprovost25612 жыл бұрын
A nice song from an album of all good songs. Ballads or rockers, they can do it all, have Dee listen to it. The whole album is fire! For me, the best tracks on it are Godzilla, Golden Age of Leather, Are You Ready to Rock and my favorite, Nosferatu, A perfect tune to react to as Halloween approaches. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

In the '80's, BÖC fans were rockers, but also into RPG's, A/V, Chess Club, weed, band, Sci-fi and Fantasy books, computers -- and all that was borderline anti-social then. In my High School, we just about ran things, got away with nearly anything we wanted to. But we weren't even our own cliche or social circle. We were on the fringes of lots of cliches, back when that happened. We only had cohesion, because we saw things the same way, not because we all hung out or even got along. Nerds and geeks were outcasts then, and we hated ourselves for it, but also, we had better things to do than dwell on it. Blue Öyster Cult were nerds, too, but nobody else thought that was cool.

Got to see these guys a few years back along the shores of Lake Michigan. They put on a hell of a show, and this has always been one of my favorites because of how laid back it is until they unleash the guitars and let the drummer ride at the end. Such a awesome body of music that these guys put out over all the years.
