Been listening to this song since 1984 and I have not tired of it, not a single bit. Such a landmark song of the decade!

The Smiths, and vocalist, Morrissey, are great at helping you drop off your feelings of depression, and end feeling much happier.

Those guitar riffs. I believe this song is almost exactly 40 years old. I'm old enough to remember when it came out.

I wonder if Morrissey ever got laid?

Man it will be interesting to see what you think of The Smiths - I LOVE this song but their music is VERY British, with a ton of humor about being working class 40 years ago in Britain. Johnny Marr is a legendary guitarist and when the Smiths hit - EVERY artist wanted him to play on their records and if you look at all the albums he guested on - its a large list with so many genres. Morrissey always wrote depressing lyrics that were self deprecating and extremely funny. It's tongue in cheek - but all teenagers surely do feel these things.Great song. The Psychedelic Furs did a remake of this song for The Craft soundtrack and also had a hit with it. Thank you for reacting to so many kinds of music. Love ya!

Johnny Marr is a badass. He throws some moves that are phenomenal. The first few seconds of "Called to Wish You a Happy Birthday" for instance. He is magical. Its hard to hear how magical in the mixes.

Thank you for one of the best Smiths reactions Ive seen. For a geezer who has only heard a few of their tracks, thids was very insightful. There are thousands of us in the UK alone, who would say The Smiths were akin to life savers back in 1984, when Britain felt like an Orwellian nightmare sometimes. I remember pitching up to the Kilburn National wondering if everyone would be as into "There is a light,,,,," as me (no way of knowing for an album track in those days) or even would the guys pla it. They did, and for the first and last time at a gig, I had teras of joy, My favourite Smiths song is Jeane - the track someone tried to bury - you figure out who....and does the lover reappear in Youve Got Everything Now, Charming Man, William etc etc

You have to hear "Girlfriend a in Coma". The whole "Strangeways, Here We Come" is a bombastic album.
@randomperson-dy6kjАй бұрын
Came to the comments to suggest Strangeways. :) I adopted a shy cat (who is awesome) in July and he was very sensitive to sounds. The mellow-est, vibey-est music in my playlist is that album, and it's all we listened to for like a week. Hadn't heard it in a long time and had forgotten how great it is. Death of a Disco Dancer is probably my favorite off there. (and my cat is now accepting of music other than The Smiths).

This was used as the theme song for the original TV series "Charmed" about the charmed ones, 3 sister witches who protected the world from evil. That guitar effect is called tremolo. The changing pitch sound you hear when a car comes and goes by is called The Doppler Effect. Any other questions?
@WILBURNREACTIONSАй бұрын
Thanks for letting me know what that was called. That sound is so crazy! I loved it

The version for Charmed was a cover (cheaper) by Love Spit Love.

The theme song is a cover by Love Spit Love , which is Richard Butlers band after The Psychedelic Furs , broke up. That’s Richard Butler on vocals.

@@hilarymiseroy The version used for Charmed was actually made for a movie called "The Craft" (about a group of teen witches) and Charmed got the song from there kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYq5n4WYpq-jgqs
