@01:46 is the remains of the old iron foot bridge across the river in Spruce Pine that was always a great spot to setup camera shots of trains from as well as watching fly fishermen down in the water. That foot bridge had to have been a good 50ft above the tracks and 75ft above the river.

Well... now we know its an intermediate signal. Also, I saw in another video that it looks like the rail is going to take an entirely different path through Poplar, NC and as such it looks like new footings are poured for new bridge. I wonder how drastically different the signalling system will look on Clinchfield when all is said and done here?

Do u happen to know anything abt status of the loops been hearing that NS might abandon it but wondering if they will still to use a backup route or maybe they get funding from something like NC Railroad company to use for passenger service

@@tux_the_astronautAren't the "Loops" ex Clinchfield now CSX?
@bigB6flyerАй бұрын
@@kennethhanks6712 there are 2 sets of loops in NC…once on the csx clinchfield up by Altapass & the other just west of Old Fort, the old fort loops, on the NS Salisbury to Asheville line.
@bigB6flyerАй бұрын
@@tux_the_astronaut I don’t. But I know that the line is being repaired. I don’t think the loops themselves received much damage but areas like Swannanoa & Black Mountain got ravaged. I could see NS leveraging the state’s desire to have a pax route on the line coupled with its desire to restart the region’s economy in an effort to help pay for repairs. Completely heresay on my part though.

Gross to see these contractors trespassing on and destroying private property in Unaka Springs without even consulting the or informing the property owners whilst simultaneously violating federal laws regarding their fleecing of the rocks from the center of the riverbed to shoddily re-build the railbed using river rock. Work being conducted by a contractor who has absolutely no experience at this scale. Currently three federal lawsuits over their negligence. Sadly, we the taxpayer will pay the bill to subsidize their negligence.

Dude, they just experienced a DISASTER, let them repair, everything up there has been completely destroyed, they have to get that mess cleaned up, nothing in the river is where it was before the DISASTER, leave them alone and let them work, they're trying to help get at least a tiny bit of normalcy back,
